Well, Geopalooza was fun, I didn't really go to show my Geo off, but to see other people's work. I still say I had the longest drive. :P

Didn't have a lick of trouble out of the car, i'm thoroughly impressed with my work. I will rebuild The White One...since he made it 1500+ miles no problems. Installing sway bars later this week and i'm trying to find some Gen3 springs.

UNDERSTEEEEEERRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!

Note to self, sway bars, front and rear. I put on just the front, it was 8 o'clock and I couldn't get some hardware for the rear bar. Very little body roll but the front just wants to slide now. :) It was fun though. 175/70's are in my future.

My EGR is still clean, and functioning. Why am I getting a code 51?

For those of you that use oil, or leak oil at any rate other than normal consumption...i recommend the cheapest oil you can find.

0w40 synthetic oil at 6 bucks a quart burned up real nice on that 1500 mile trip. I used...2 quarts I think. I'm most deff ready for a rebuild now, I never noticed how much it burned, I just knew it burned some. I was below the fill line after getting about 3/4 full before the drive home. I didn't think it was that bad I don't usually drive more than 100 miles without checking.

NOOOOOOOOOOO....MY ALTERNATOR BEARING IS SHOT/NOISY... THAT WAS THE NOISE I WAS HEARING...

WHAT IS MY PLAN OF ACTION?
i would think that you should replace the alternator
or
take apart yours and replace the bearings ....
which is not as difficult as it may seem , assuming the rest of the alternator is OK

It's actually fine now, if it starts making noise again I will get a replacement bearing.

Those of you that THINK you drive a gokart, put on some sway bars.

Mini how to:
pull front and rear sway bars from 95+ metro
bolt front ones up, they go one the same way you took them off
hook up the end links on the rear one
rotate it up to line the bracket on the spare tire well
drill 4 holes from the bottom
use bolts from homedepot through the holes
in this order
bolt
fender washer
car
fender washer
bolt (tighten it up now)
sway bar bracket
lock washer
bolt (tighten it up now)

I got my 58 mpg number figured out. The pump messed with me, and it "gave" me a gallon of gas. First tank was 58 mpg, this number was right. Avg speed was around 55. The 2nd/3rd tanks average were 49, which is much more realistic.

Still, 50 mpg @ pretty much 70mph? Can't hardly beat that.

The hardest part of replacing the alternator drive bearing is finding a replacement that doesnt cost $30.
I had to replace it on my 94 geo 1L. The bearing is 15X47X14mm & is sealed on both sides. I think the 93 had the same alternator. But other later years have a different alternator so the bearing size is different for them.

Thanks for that measurement. The hardest part for me is getting the pulley off.

I nearly died on my way home, fell asleep like 5 hours away from the camp ground. I just pulled into some ghetto motel and slept for like 6 hours and drove the rest of the way.

I've been PMing and IMing everyone, trying to get all the opinions I can before I start my rebuild. The first thing I did was buy a used engine. I don't want to have my Geo down while i'm doing this rebuild. Thanks Chad for suggesting that one. Next I tore the engine down, it's an XFi engine (no cam) I'm debating on whether or not to keep it "XFi" and just buy some std. XFi rings and call it a day, or should I bore it 20 thousands over and make it a regular G10. Ideas/suggestions?

Rebuild "list":

3tech headbolts 30
water pump 35
20 over piston/ring 90
SS exhaust valves 30
gasket set idk
+10 cam gear idk

I'll be removing the folding part of my "bed". It gets the way as it is...and i think i'll do better without it.
