Passages in the manifold, or EGR? I read the EGR thread http://geometroforum.com/topic/678529/1/ and JM and them were talking about having to remove the manifold? I don't really have the time to do that right yet.

When removed the engine revs quite a bit higher and smoother. The exhaust gases blow out and stop (or maybe not at all, I can't tell). The intake side sucks good, and causes the engine to slow down. Once reinstalled, the engine behaves like we haven't done anything (still acting funny), I think the exhaust port is still clogged, I don't think I heard *much* exhaust sound from the port. |

So you took speaker wire and cleaned the passages? How *deep* is the hole? (that sounded dirty!) |

Got it good and clean, tips for people that are reading this... remove the exhaust manifold , it makes it a bunch easier. I cleaned it all out with a drill bit and a bicycle brake cable, and some carb cleaner... When I put my finger over the exhaust side and it blew it off and whistled. Nothing changed, same engine problems.

The surging you are getting may mean the TPS needs adjusted. |

So after you cleaned the passages and reinstalled the EGR you had driveability issues? If you removed the EGR and the manifold (intake or exhaust?) you may have damaged the gaskets. Did you replace them? It's possible that you have a vacuum leak at the EGR or intake manifold. Try the propane/carb cleaner test. |
