Ideas for a SouthEastern meet...

Post any ideas you might have for a meet for those of us in the SouthEast that can't make GeoPalooza. Since we seem to be gaining more members from the South we should be able to get a meet together somewhere.

My idea:

Talladega SuperSpeedway:
Pros=
-Large enough parking lot to handle the size of a Metro.
-International Motorsports Hall of Fame, really cool place to go to.
-Easy to get to.
Cons=
-Not near any other attractions
-See #1
-See #1,2

Ideas?

Kyle

I think somebody has a meeting in SC, or he is trying to.

I do think that it makes more sense to have the meeting in TN or AL, SC is too east for say MS, AR, etc.

I was the one proposing a Charleston, SC meet. One thing it would have going for it would be my wife. She is a natural at setting up stuff like this and would make it an event to remember.

I don't know what the site is but there is some sort of mapping software that will let you pinpoint where the forum members are. Maybe this would help determine where a good place would be.

I know for me Charleston would be 7hours or so, probably closer to 9 for Coche. Something around Savannah woud be cool.

If you group all of the states considered to part of the Southeastern US, I think the exact middle would be slightly north of Atlanta, Georgia. The only thing around there Amicalola Falls State Park.

Anywhere you pick in the Southeastern US is going to be HOT and HUMID during the summer. Maybe you could do it in the Fall when the leaves are changing. That would make for idyllic driving conditions. No sweating. No mosquitoes. :D

I regularly travel anywhere in TN/GA so I'm up for something in the area :) :) I think Asheville NC is about as far east as I get, and I very rarely make it west of Jackson, TN. But I'd be up for anything in AL, GA, TN, KY or west NC

Yes, but you take into consideration where everyone lives, and do the math from there.

i.e. 10 people live in SC and only 1 in Mississippi, it needs to be closer to SC than Mississippi.

I was only using a geographic mid-point. It doesn't matter to me.

You guys should probably factor alligators into the equation to choose a safe location. :D

If I get my Geo rebuilt (and I still have it), count me in on everyone until I die.

I would make the drive from Columbus, OH to South Carolina, no problem!

I am putting a suggestion in to add the "where are the members on a map" modification to the board. Should be interesting...

(I'll edit this post after I do it to link to my post)

Until then you can see an example here:
