Just found the place - decided to join up. I have a 98 Chevy Metro (my second hatchback with a 3 cylinder), same red color and same 3 cylinder that my first one had. At the moment I am looking around for spare drivetrain parts. 97-01 3 cylinder motors and 5 speed transmissions. The body on this car is in fantastic shape. No glass cracks - no rust issues. Only problem was the tow hitch the previous owner decided to put on it. Threw that out. Stripped the interior of the car down to bare metal - cleaned, collected all the spare change, wiped it down with a towel mixed with soapy wax car fluid to protect the paint from corrosion, put the carpet and seat back in, will finish up with the plastic trim pieces next chance I get. Love these little cars. Old, yeah. Inexpensive, right. Gets the SAME or BETTER mileage than a $15,000 SMART CAR. So who is the "Smart" one now, eh? Might buy a second one for my 15 year old for school. I'm in the Orlando Florida area, so AC is kinda nice to have with our 98 degree days. For now, I'm stocking up on parts: spare motors and maybe a spare trans. Should be late model no older than 1997...anything older is either has a carb instead of fuel injection, or has so many miles that I have to overbore it .030 and gain weight to the tune of about another 20 or 30 cubic inches displacement. -Mike- |

No GEO ever had a carb. 89-00 are the same as far as the head and block are concerned, 96-00 are identical in every respect. No 3 cylinders in 01. Overbore might gain you 2 or 3 inches of displacement, certainly not enough to make any difference whatsoever.

While it looks like a carb, what you are actually seeing is a throttle body injector. What Woodie said is technically true, no 'Geo' ever had a carb, however, its predecessor the Sprint did, iirc.

Welcome to the forum, Orlando-Metro! Yea, I was surprised to find out it was injected. If you want to put a carb on it then a Suzuki Racing Development Weber Carb. and World Racing 3 Cyl. Intake manifold might be the way to go.
