if you can "get" a url that ends in jpg ie http://xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.jpg your good to go. Just make it brackets img and brackets /img with your url inbetween. |

Okay, that's my problem then because Picasa doesn't do that. I guess I would have to use a different host. I probably won't bother, I have enough things to keep track of. Thanks for the info. |

Actually, picasa has fairly large sized pics (the way I posted them here, anyways, glad you didn't mind 92GoCart ) but there are better options. The experts on Picasa would be Ky or Jittney, but I don't know if they offer a thumbnails for forums option (although I am pretty sure they must). I myself use image shack, which has 2 ways you can go, you can find both in this thread http://geometroforum.com/topic/1322668/1/ The images I posted up there were from your Picasa album, and since the pics were of a medium size, I just straight up posted them. As Nerys said, the format for, say the first one (but applies to all of them ) would be per picture: and that gives you the image picture above, in this case, your engine bay. Btw, you don't need picasa to provide the image tags, when you hit full reply you would see the image link along the top. I'll use that to give you an example of thumbnails, which is something either photobucket or imageshack gives you the full link for (i.e. you could skip clicking image in the full reply and just paste the links in the add reply screen at the bottom). This is step by step using that method :
The only thing to keep in mind, of course, is that some of the members are on dialup, so largish pictures, like those above, can cause really slow loading times. Actually quite lucky, Jittney was in the live chat during this post, and told me that picasa does not in fact offer thumbnail links So, if you really prefer picasa (nothing wrong with that) make a seperate album with really small pictures, and post those to the forum. Or, alternately, you can use one of the other two services I mentioned (both are free), both provide copy/paste thumbnails. Just in case your wondering what that means, here are your images from the picasa album, moved to image shack and posted as thumbnails. ![]() ![]() ![]() Clicking on any of those would bring you to the full size, you can see you would be able to fit many pictures at a fraction of the bandwidth. Hope that helps ![]() Edited by bogs, Apr 25 2010, 10:07 AM.

Thanks so much for the help, I finally got it figured out. I kept trying to use the address in the address bar or the "link" on the right rather than "embed". I tried adding the .jpg to them and it didn't work that way either. I knew about the "image" button and was using that but nothing worked. Picasa does have a thumbnail option with link but that doesn't work for some reason. If I post with just the image and no link then it will post up a 144 thumbnail. Well this will probably be helpful in other forums as well. I have used embed on other stuff before but didn't know it was needed in this application. |

Oh yah, also forgot to add that .jpg isn't the only format you can post in, for instance this roflmao pic is a .gif ![]() png, jpg, even movies can be posted by using the flash video tool on the full reply If picasa does offer thumbnails ( I was under the impression it doesn't, sorry ) you can still use picasa then by making the thumbnail linkable to the actual full size pic. All that should be required is adding the url tags, since this is how imageshacks works:which of course gives you my favorite of all types of cars ![]() So, you could just as easily use the thumbnail, and where the url is link to the fullsize pic easy squeezy lemon peezy, to quote sayeth the gecko, the possibilities are endless

posting a thumbnail from Picasa: It's a 2 step process..... 1) post the Thumbnail Size as the Image on this site. 2) post the full size as the URL on this site and edit the title that reads My Webpage in the pop up box that appears. cylinder #1or.... I finally figured out bogs's instructions.... you can copy the thumbnail image into the My Webpage portion of the URL and get this....which is a link. Still, it's a two step process. ![]() Edited by Jittney, Apr 25 2010, 11:07 AM.
