Ok you have to tell me - how are you going get the DVLA to let you put that on the road? When I lived over there, the cops got really upset even with the kids using their pedal / mopeds on the paths never mind the roads! If they even caught you driving a quad on the street without getting into real trouble!

You any idea what the MOT is going to include for it?
Looking closely, I think the only thing missing for IVA and MoT is mudguards.

650kg‽‽‽

That's horrific! More aluminium and real carbon fibre mate!! :D

It's still a well sorted piece of kit B-)

When I was over there old timers drove their scooters on the roads. Lots of fun popping over a hill on a one lane road to find some pensioner going 10 mph! You'd go down the pub and find three Rascals parked out front.

Must depend on the area, I was in the country just outside Chesterfield.

Hi Guys thanks for the comments - yeah 650 is a little more than I wanted but never mind - as for getting it through the DVLA it will need to go for the Road Legal test now called the IVA (Individual vehicle assessment) this has now replaced the SVA that all Kitcars had to go through, this test is a real nightmare to get through and once done will give me my logbook for the buggy and also the Q plate registration then it will go for a standard MOT test where they will do any test that applies (So no windscreen checks for example :D )

Nitrowing - you are correct I only need to build the wheel arch brackets and fit them and the wheel-arches to comply with the UK rules now, everything else is done!!

I was up in the central belt of Scotland - where the cops feared that their wheels would get stolen off their cars lol - so I think it was definitely a case of heavy handedness on their part. I would have LOVED a buggy like that... not just so beautiful but so much fun to build. You do the UK proud by having the balls to do this!

Hi All, quick update on the buggy progress - there has been a bit!

Got the engine re-fitted and sorted out all the electrics through the center tunnel, connected up the handbrake and brake warning light from same. I've also made the guards to stop people sticking their fingers where they shouldnt!! And also to keep the SVA man happy!! - there are two main side panels shown here before paint
Passenger side:-

and drivers side with cutout for the filler box:-

then built ones for the rear to stop anyone putting fingers onto the main exhaust pipework (shown here painted and fitted) and also built two to protect the radiator, I added 8mm steel bar to the edges to make sure they will pass SVA

Also re-built and painted the rod to cable gear change adapter box

So this is what she looks like at the moment:-

With a bit of luck and fine weather I will be able to make the pulley cover this weekend and start on the wheel arch brackets then she is done as far as fabrication goes!!

Its getting closer to the SVA! (Road Legal test in UK)
