100MPG - thanks for the comments, The tube is 32mm Diameter (1.25") wall thickness is 2mm and there is 280 foot of tube in the frame, I am estimating the all up weight at 450kg as I have not been able to get it to a weigh bridge recently - last time it came out at approx 370kg but I still had a lot to do on it some 450 sounds about right, but I wont know for sure until I get it finished.

Cheers
ok, so i'm getting 144 pounds of tubing, 135 for a complete engine and i think 5speeds are about 65 pounds.. so, 344 pounds there and theres another 600 pounds somewhere. i'm having a hard time seeing it... but you do have some pretty heavy brackets going on... i was thinking that our vw powered sand rails where under 600 pounds but i could be wrong, that just seems really heavy to me for some reason. another head scratcher? was it built like super duty for heavy off road work and such. or maybe you know exactly where that weight went.

As usual you've taken a pretty bland piece and turned it into a work of art :thumb

Bogs, thanks for the comments, working on the dashboard at the moment will post pics soon!

100MPG - Not sure where your getting your weights from for the tube I make it 124.2KG for all the tube (32mm OD with 2mm wall ERW) which converts to 273.8 lbs (using an online converter) engine roughly 67kg so thats approx 147lbs gearbox is about 20kg = 44lbs, seats are 12kg each i think so thats 53lbs so thats up to 517.8 so far and thats not including the suspension mounts / shock/ wheels / tyres / battery / panels etc etc

But at the end of the day as long as its under the weight of the swift im happy (which it will be by a long way!)

Any yes its built VERY heavy duty :) - I fab to last!!!! lol

Cheers

Been busy this weekend working on the dashboard here are a few pics

Dashboard panels cut out ready for assembly

Panels tack welded together

Fully welded and finished (just about)

And with the dash dropped into position

Still have the bolt down lid to finish off but I'm happy with the dash so far!

It was like Christmas at my house today! - the fuel tank that was made to my drawings by ProAlloy (And they did a fantastic job I reckon) and the gauges that were built for my engine by ETB instruments arrived!!! here are a couple of pics;

Fuel tank showing breather/feed/return ports filler and Sender port (under the tape in the middle) and the turned pot at the bottom is the fuel sump!

And the matching set of gauges (Rev counter built specifically to switch between 3 and 4 cylinders.

What do you think?

Got 70 MPG?

Very Nice indeed, but I think even with the lightened body that the motor is in it will never see much more than 130 MPH with the gearing of the transmission.
