Well, we can be flexible. If it is to cold for some of us then we caravan to the Grand Sierra for the afternoon.

We got an inch of snow last night. It was off the roads by 9 a.m. except in shadows.

I just decided to bring Sammy along for the rode trip and stay in a Motel 6 considering the freezing temps at night. He has his own insulation. :shake

Maybe stay for breakfast on Saturday, drive home Sat. afternoon? Heck, I'll be happy just getting a couple of Whoppers and chatting with everyone.

Unless someone can shit me a drivers side axle for a 1.3 , I'm up a creek.
Yea, bring the blue car if you can't get the Geo repaired. Sad about the half-shaft. Mine has made some noise loosening up, very tight CV joint installing it. I hope it does well this weekend. See you there. :thumb

Hey CC did you find out what the problem was? Is your axle the one with the extra cast iron mount that bolts to the block? If so, I have one. But no way of shipping it today. I am at work and won't get off till 6PM PST. If that is the one. I can bring it and the tools to install it. Less the jack. I have a Swench Wrench and can remove the axle nut with out the use of air. But would not risk working under one of our scissors jacks. You can have the axle if thats is the correct on. I will PM you with my # in case it is. I will be leaving tomorrow about 10am our time. I will have my laptop. But I am driving through a lot of wilderness area. Would need to find a WiFi spot in like Redding. Let me know.

Sir, yes sir!

Yeah, looks like the axle is either bent or damaged up by the inner CV joint. The 1.3 has that weird little mount like you are talking about. It's OK, I already paid for one from csk, should be here in a few hours. I just hope the carrier bearing isn't damaged. There is a little debate as to either the axle/carrier bearing or both are the cause of the problem. I have a slight movement of the inner CV joint at the mating point with the carrier bearing but iirc it's a in/out motion and not an up/down or side/side movement. So cross your fingers that it's just the axle as I'm slightly confused as to how I would replace the carrier bearing. I'm sure a factory service manual would have it, but I don't have one.

The blue one isn't registered right now. I had to non-op it because that wanted almost $300 for a new sticker. I just don't have that kind of scratch!

/\ repair manual

Looks like the carrier bearing is a press fit. I really hope that isn't the problem because I don't even have the $30 for the bearing let alone the money for the press work.

Wish I could help. I have a good press. I picked up the axle when I was chasing parts for my DS car. But it was the wrong stuff. Must log off now. I will check back in the AM before I hit the road. Hope to see you soon. Murf

that repair manual is a pretty interesting link :thumb Since I see it includes airbags, does that mean its 95 -> ? or does it cover all years?

that's from the link section in Metro Tech.

I think it's honestly for the euro model since it includes 1.6 and AWD.

Murf, how are you getting to Reno? Depending on the route I can head out with you.

Friday will be a little on the chilly side at 61, but Saturday looks pleasant at 68! Of course Monday it's gonna be 77 :banghead

Again, I'm bringing 4 packs of Nathan's Hot Dogs and 12 liters of Pepsi products (no diet). So if someone could bring cups, ice and buns we should be set. Also I guess napkins and stuff. Of course some of this would be better sourced locally.
