There has to be a reason? I thought we all just did that for fun :)
:D

I think the only reason is to deal with the Geo Dash Curse. But who knows ... Seems like a lot of work to install just a radio. :smackface

It needed to be removed because of wiring issues - I'm changing from a 4 cylinder to a 3 cylinder, and the existing wiring harness was crappy so I'm going to replace it.

Besides that, I've been wanting to respray it (it has the curse like yours did). Now that I've seen your thread, I'm thinking of painting everything black with silver accents. The carpet was also disgusting, and my floor pan is a little rusty.

All in all, I'm very excited. I'm in no rush to get the car running. The 3 cylinder is going to be completely rebuilt, as is the gear box (both are out of the car already).

The body needs work...

I bought my 94 after it had been sitting for 2 years with both windows rolled down. :shake

The carpet looked like it needed to go in the trash. :shit

To make a long story short, I pulled it out and washed it down with a garden hose and scrubed it with dish soap SEVERAL TIMES. After drying it looked just fine. ^o)

Bill I confess I thought “eh who cares :whistle ” - can’t anyone clean up their interior or do some touch up painting - and why make a special thread on it?

Boy was my perception wrong. I finally decided to check out your thread, and it really highlights what is possible, besides being a how-to. Very nice :drool , and thanks for posting.
I have a 95 I’m fixing up for my wife and I can't wait :spaz to give it that treatment.

I see the removing the dashboard is quite an undertaking. We were going to do this for our race car build tomorrow. Would it just be smarter to cut out and remove parts we don't want since we don't care if we destroy the dash? Or should we just wait till the cage gets installed? Don't mean to hijack the thread. Thanks.

Got 70 MPG?

I wouldn't cut in fear of cutting part of the harness that's under it.

Ok. Guess we'll just bear down and dig it out. Thanks.

Back to your regularly scheduled programming. ;)

The dash actually isn't that difficult to remove. It's just knowing what to do! lol.

Thanks crankcase, are you going to do a color change or the stock color for your wife?

I think the stock looks really nice. I’d be in good standing though for a long while if I made the interior pink, but less ambitious pink projects pay good dividends as well, maybe the headliner or something?

Why does one take the steering wheel off and switches out to remove dash? Just remove
the steering column. I just repainted my interior and removing the steering column to
take the dash out was quick and easy. On my 92 I removed the three screw on top of dash
the two on each side and the center brace along with the console. I pulled one at the Pull-A-Part the other day in thirty minutes.

@Metro fiend:

Take the front seats out first. It took me a couple hours to get it out. I never got it back in because I gave the car away, but I think it would have been quicker to get back in than to take out... it's always trying to find those last bolts!! If you have a whole weekend you should be set. :)
