I have a 95 Metro 2-door hatch 5-speed 1 liter. My e-brake light keeps coming on randomly and it is driving me nuts. What and where should I check? Thanks Adam |

Take the cover off your ebrake. Follow the handle down. There is a tiny little reed switch. When you LIFT the hand brake it activates this switch which is what activates the light (At least thats how it works on my 94) either you are lifting the handle just a little bit (it really does not take much) OR something is keep the handle from going down all the way. If neither you should be able to "adjust" the switch to make it less sensitive and keep it from turning on. |

Also check the brake fluid level. If it's low the front pads may be due or a small leak is starting somewhere. |

Yup, whenever you see the light flashing on then off, especially during cornering, it is going to be low brake fluid in the reservoir. |

Can't it be pads or shoes going out?

Yes, the brake fluid is low. The reason it is low is because you need front pads. |

That may be the usual reason the fluid level is low. But, there could be a leak in the system somewhere. |

These cars also get leaking rear cylinders as well. I've had both of mine replaced already. Got another leak later on and come to find out that the banjo bolt on the front driver's side caliper was loose and it was leaking ou through that.
