Windshield replacement can run anywhere from $175.00 to $300.00 depending on the company. I would call around.
Yes, call around.
I had a large crack in mine and lived with it for years.
This winter it spider-webbed out on me and I needed to replace the windshield.
I payed a local glass company $145.00 to replace it.
That was parts and labor.
To buy just the windshield and install it myself would have cost almost that much.

Because of where I live (on an island) there's only one service that will come and do the replacement for me. I called them and got a quote. It’ll run me $309 to get one, and I have no other choice unless I want to find one at a junkyard off-island and do the work myself...

the only way for a car to get on/off the island I live on is via ferry, and it costs $140 for a round trip. My car is not registered or inspected, so I can't even drive it, let alone bring it off the island. That means i'd have to take a box truck off the island to get the windshield and bring it back, and it would cost about $200 for a round trip ferry ticket.
P.S.- I do have access to a box truck because my mom and step-dad run a mobile repair business, where the back of each truck is basically like a small shop and our mechanics can perform on-location repairs

Duct tape heals all wounds

If you have the box truck, I woud attempt the repair myself, especially if you have an extra set of hands available. It isn't terribly difficult, I believe metrofiend did one by himself.

in the time since my last post i:
-got a new windshield
-got kick-ass Radio

I am now driving around in my car without an inspection sticker- where i live, after you register a car you can drive it for 1 week before you need to get it inspected. i think i'll need a new muffler for it to pass...
