the other day i started my car and got almost all the way home when i turned off my radio and air, and a iheard a ticking sound.

my car does leak oil but i had just put some in and the level is good. Im putting my car in the

school shop for a little while like tues, or wednsday, so what are my solutions. I read another members troubles w/ this

but he said he paid 97 bucks

and got new adjusters on his rockers or rocker arms or something. so if you guys can as fast as possible help me. ^o)

I'm not real familiar with the 4 banger but remember reading here or on Teamswift that the 8 valve 1.3 s had some problems with rocker arms breaking. Try doing a search.

Sir, yes sir!

Your engine uses an odd roller rocker arrangement. Often a problem with the roller failing and causing the rocker arm and cam lobe can become damaged. This should be evident soon as you remove the valve cover.

Another thing is you have hydraulic lifters that can get dirty and cause all sorts of ticking issues. They can be disassembled and cleaned.

I would pull the valve cover and fire it up to locate the noise.

A nice item to have around the house is a mechanic's stethoscope. But you can use a wooden dowel held to your ear to accomplish the same thing.

turns out the rings in my motor are bad. but i was not going to rebuild it so i went to napa and got Lucas stop leak.

it has kept the leak slowed down and i ll just have to keep using that until i can get the money to

have someone rebuild it or till i get another car to drive around.

If you're not going to do a rebuild, I would be looking for a new car ASAP.
