I just picked up my first metro a few days ago, so I thought I'd come join your party. I always try to keep a reliable forum at my back whenever I pick up an unfamiliar car, that way I dont have to figure everything out on my own...

So, a tidbit about me... I live in Austin, TX, commute about 100 miles a day, and with exception to my WW2 jeep project, have never owned anything with less than 8 cylinders, or 5 liters.

I'm a big kid, love to play around with big toys and take on projects that make the girlfriend shake her head. I'll never be too old for video games and cartoons.

I guess thats about it. Feel free to ask questions, or if your'e in Austin, you're welcome to get ahold of me and we can meet up for lunch and ogle each others metros.

Anyhow, I'll post a couple of pictures and a description over in the pictures/videos board after I plug in the camera. I'll edit in a link to it here.

welcome to the forum, you know what they say you can't have just one geo... so i think technically geo's are the only cars you're allowed to add up all the engine's so if you have more than or just 5 geo's you'll still be at your 5.0 mark and it'll be well over the 8 cylinder mark at 15.
:P

:cheers

Welcome to the forum. I could not list all the cars I've had. Mostly because we owned two wrecking yards. So we had to many to count. But we had
Over 24,000 Standard transmissions
2000 engines.
16 boats
2 ultralights. Old Wizards
And over 1,000,000 trans parts
but my favorites were the Datsun 510s, and my 1932 Chevy 2 dr sedan.
Lets not forget my 1980 1000cc Sportster, and my 51 Pan head

Welcome to the forum!
MM, owning a wrecking yard is cheating :rasp
also, I'm not sure motorcycles qualify on a 'car list', so I'll leave those out, but you guys are amateurs! THIS is a car list :

  • 1. 1963 Ford Thunderbird
  • 2. 1965 Mustang coupe
  • 3. 1969 Chevy Nova
  • 4. 1969 Opel GT
  • 5. 1970 Buick GS
  • 6. 1970 Mercury Cougar
  • 7. 1972 Buick Skylark
  • 8. 1978 Ford Granada
  • 9. 1979 Hatchback Mustang
  • 10. 1979 VW Scirrocco
  • 11. 1979 Pontiac Sunbird
  • 12. 1980 Chevette
  • 13. 1980 VW Vanagon

  • 31. 1997 Dodge Caravan
  • 32. Unknown vintage 4 door Nissan hatchback (believe 1982)
  • 33. 1969 Mach 1 Mustang

There are a few others which, fortunately or not, I've forgotten during the intervening years, and of course I didn't bother with the ones that lasted less than 3 months or weren't daily drivers(read that 'parts cars'). The only car I started with and still have today is the Mach, and I will have that car till I am dead.

For Motorcycles, I've had 3 Indians, 2 of which were 650cc commanches and 1 chief 4cyl. (hand me downs from relatives), 3 hondas 175cc, 350cc, 400cc, 1 yamaha 100cc. Of the above, I wish I had kept 2, the 650 and the chief bikes.

Bogs, I have an 85 VW Westphalia Vanagon. I hope to get it totally reconditioned here soon. It runs really well, just has a dent in the side entry door.

The first car I ever bought with my own money was a 1978 Pontiac Firebird. I had that car totally rebuilt and painted. If I can find a picture I will post. I wish I had that car back. I purchased an 87 Firebird and sold my 78 to a friend, who totalled it a week later.

Yah, that Vanagon was something else to drive, if you ever have the chance to drive one, I highly recommend it :thumb

That story about your 78 is why I will never sell my Mach, its a story I've heard far too often and frankly, I am closer to that car than some of my family members. Unlike them, that Mach has never let me down.
