Front wheel bearings for 93 convertible.

Hello,

Great place for info!

I have a question about front wheel bearings for a 93 convertible. I keep running into info that suggests that
the wheel bearings for the convertible models 90-93 are not the same as for other metros. Is this true? I don't
think I trust the vendors that sell them because they're selling bearings for a million different cars.

Also, Front right bearing is pretty grindy right now. When I turn left the noise dissipates--almost completely.
I try not to drive the car too much at the moment, but have too for short trips to work. Anything catastrophic
possible?

Thanks in advance.

The convertible had larger brakes, wheels, and a different front knuckle, so I'm guessing the bearing is probably different too. If you keep driving it after it really starts making noise constantly it'll damage the knuckle and axle, but what it's doing now isn't causing damage to anything except the bearing.

From what I've read, and looking at RockAuto parts, the convertible already had the brakes, hubs and knuckles that the 95+ metro 2 doors got.

So yes, it's different than the other metros in the 89-94 years, but the same as 95+ (with the exception of GTI I believe)

Man,

Thanks for both responses. I figured from the vendors I was looking at that there might be a difference,
but getting info from real metro folks makes a hell of a difference.

Thanks again!

Hi,

Lots of front wheel bearing issues today!
So it looks like I need two bearings and a seal.
If anyone's changed the front bearings on a convertible ('93)
I'd love to pick your brain about it! I just want to make sure.

Thanks!
