Ok, I seem to have missed a piece in the process of rebuilding the head.....Any idea what this thing is? Where it goes? How it attaches?

(cross-posted from my project thread)

EDIT: I have fixed the pic, and added a ruler for size.

Yes, I have had the air cleaner off. Is that a part of it?

I will go look at that.

I don't think it's a bracket for that because mine wasn't shaped anything like that and mine is the same year and model as yours...

I've done several heads, but I don't really recall seeing a part like that. But then again, it looks kind of a tiny bit familiar?? :ermm: :ermm:

Can you give us an idea of how big it is?

Besides the head, what else did you take apart?

Maybe something in the timing belt area???

Does the bolt pattern line up with the rear main seal?

Sure looks like it's part of the throttle body. It goes on the top and covers the injector wiring.
I don't have a picture to send but if you post what your TBI opening looks like I'm sure I'll notice it missing.

Unfortunately KY, none of the pictures from your other post on this part or this post are showing up (404 error) for me at this point, from memory (mine is REAL bad, so take this with a grain of salt), that piece resembles the assembly in Enginedoc's picture, [#30]. Since you have the piece right in front of you, see if that does indeed resemble that part :) Good luck on finding out.

Wow, I didn't realize that it was small enough to fit around the fuel injector. Take a picture of it next to something else so we have a good idea of how big it is.

Bingo JellyBeanDriver, I think you nailed it. I'm about 95% sure I remember seeing it there too as you described in post #9.
The little protrusion, kind of lip thingie on the one end, is what the cloth insulated wires that go to the injectors wrap around/hold in place.

Well, like I said, I can't see the pictures posted anymore, so I'm trying to visualize it from when I did see them. Odd everyone else appears to be able to see the pic but me :dunno but thats what it reminded me of.
