alright well the first time i failed, well i dindn't really fail i let my mom apply the RTV sealant

i have some black RTV

and was wondering if what i did last time was correct.

on the bottle it says the wait X amount of time so it doesn't bond both parts together my mother said that was right

do i want to put the RTV on then apply ASAP or wait the time specified?

Some say...

What kind of RTV are you using? Any of the stuff I've used wants assembly to be right away.

Sir, yes sir!

depending on what it says on the tube, there might be a waiting period before assembly. This allows the RTV to well... V (vulcanize). It becomes slightly stiffer and tacky. This will allow the RTV to spread out without becoming to thin in areas when the surfaces are mated and then tightened down.

The Red RTV is tough. I used it on my oil pan and to seal a torn CV Boot.

Clean both surfaces with brake / parts cleaner.

Apply silicone on the bottom of the block with a single bead, trace around bolts and bolt holes.

After applying silicone, immediately install oil pan finger tight until you start seeing the silicone seep out and STOP, Wait a couple of hours for the silicone to cure.

After 2 hours, tighten bolts 1/4 to 1/2 turns.

The Directions...
