Hello from Grove City OH; I listed my 94 Metro 4 door on Craigslist and your group found me.

Hello,

I was about to give up on the third Metro I have owned, I called the junkyard then listed it on Craigslist for $100 more than they would give me for it. It needs a transmission. One of your groups valued members replied to my add and determined that yes I would rather be driving my 94 Geo Metro 4 door station wagon than sending it to the junkyard, so he says he has a transmission that's been sitting in his garage and he would give it to me and maybe help find someone to fix it. He drove up in a really great white 90 Metro and put the transmission in the back of my wagon. I can't begin to tell you how much this act of kindness means to me. Thank you so much.

He took a zillion pictures and thoroughly inspected my car, I need someone in the central Ohio area to do the work on installing the transmission. If anyone here would be willing to do the work I'm sure that 90Metro can talk to you intelligently about the details and condition of my car. I hope to hear back from you soon. Thanks for finding me.

:) good luck on the tranny swap, I needed a new clutch on mine when I got it, It took me about 7 hours over 2 days to take the tranny off and put it back on (by myself) with 2 people this could be done in an afternoon. as you know, the transmission is very light , the hardest part of the whole job was lining the pilot bearing and input shaft up on reinstall. These cars are very easy to work on :) We have lots of members in Ohio, I'm sure someone here will be happy to help you out!

"Chicks dig me and guys think I'm cool."

I just talked to a friend of mine in the Columbus area who does transmission work on Geos. His name is Chuck and he'll be giving anndankev a call this evening to arrange something. I have photos of her ride that I'll post tonight as well when I get home. Overall the car is very salvageable and deserving to stay on the road.

Here are some pics of Ann's car.

Passenger side

Driver's side frame stand looks okay. Some surface rust bubbling so it's hard to tell.

Passenger's side frame stand needs IMMEDIATE welding attention.

Driver's side. Not a bad looking little car. Engine runs nice but transmission is kaput.

From what I'm seeing in those pictures, I would do both sides before too long. I think Chad would tell you he thought his looked ok to him (just before it went kaplowey), however if your seeing bubbling up rust in that area, its already gone. A couple good sharp whacks will tell for sure just how far.

Nice looking car otherwise, welcome to the site :)
