Typically machine shops charge around $15 per cylinder, or there abouts. I don't charge to match pistons to cylinders. Takes me less than 30 seconds to mic a piston and dial in my machine to about .001 less than the final bore size. I leave then .001 to finish up with a sunen-type hone the precise final bore size.

I don't run a full machine shop. Mostly I do all of my own work. But, I do have more than a few people bring me some work pretty regularly. I buy up equipment when I can. Sooner or later I'll have a seat & guide machine & a resurfacer. Soon.

25 dollars per cylinder? Geez that's expensive. Why on earth would they bore the block .050" over?

As for the rest of the work, they didn't exactly take you to the cleaner, but they didn't do you any favors either.

Connecting rod exchange, did they exchange your rods for new or resized rods? Or is that the price for resizing your rods?

The cylinders were out of round by just a little bit, he said I could get away with not boring them
but it wasn't advisable. I wanted it to be done right so I told him to bore it. He had the micrometer
and showed me what was going on. I don't think he was trying to put one over on me.
With the way the knurling looked I thought maybe they weren't done yet. This is my first rebuild
so I don't know everything thats involved with machine work.

The 50 over is in Metric they said that was the next size over.
They didn't charge me for sizing the piston/bore. He called and said he didn't want to finish till
he had the pistons to measure. That's when I got in touch with partsdinasour.
As far as the pricing goes this is the only shop in town and was highly recommended, over the shops
that are 40 miles away.

Well, he definitely didn't bore 50 mils, that's almost 2 inches.
