Sir, yes sir!

I'll wait for her reply. If I misunderstood her I'll delete it. This is the internet and you can't hear the inflection in a voice nor read body language. If I was wrong in my interpretation, I'll remove it and apologize.

Well guys, I have had the car back now for almost a week. I've taken her out on longer and longer trips without the problem reoccurring. I AM very happy it's fixed.

This new guy did tell me that the code came up as a random misfire then he looked at what would cause this, plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor. Since the distributor cap and rotor had NOT been replaced that is what he looked at first and that was the problem.

I am amiss at tune-ups and general car maintainance except for keeping the car washed and shovelling it out on a regular basis. I have learned my lesson. :smackface Considering the fact I didn't get a tune-up for 5 years, well, me bad. :'( But I didn't have any trouble there for a long time then all of a sudden it seemed like EVERYTHING was going wrong.

I looked up Dignostic Code Random Misfire so now I understand.

Yes, I AM going to go back to my original guy and tell him about this. He should have known this. I guess he wasn't as knowledgable as I thought he was BUT I did tell him to replace the fuel filter, and pump since they needed replacing. He showed me the old ones and they were CRAP. :ermm: But then again if a mechanic is told to replace something and he is getting paid to do it then he'd be an idiot not to, aye?

I don't think of myself as a Drama Queen either. I was just so upset about almost getting smashed into about 6 times while in traffic and suddenly stopping. That happening to anyone once is upsetting but for it to happen everytime you drove the car can really screw a person up. A steady diet of Sudden Terror can affect your thinking. :-/

To all of you that came to my defense against personal attacks on my motives, thank you. To those of you that lobbed grenades at me, you should stick to the problem being addressed and not make it a personal attack on the person with the problem. :shake

I just can't believe how good the car is behaving now, like it's new again. :thumb

Vee,

Perhaps if you decide to keep your Metro you can come here to learn about the problems you encounter. They are easily fixed, but it takes a little bit of practice to understand how it works. Honestly - diagnostically, you have to stick two wires somewhere, read a number, and come back... and then you get more direction.

Here's hoping you keep it!

In our defense, or at least my defense, the original post was a bit...rude. I may have misread it, but it felt like an attack on our "help".

This is why the internet will end up destroying society. We can communicate faster but can't understand what we are saying.

vee, trust me i know about the car dying in the street and almost getting hit :O ...i had a 1987 toyota corolla w/ a starter problem and that thing about gave me heart attacks x3 :x ...so if that is why you came off rude and not listening to what we had to say...then ill send my "virtual" apologies :type ...
but please if next time something like this occurs, take a deep breathe, look at what weve posted, see if you or yr mechanic can fix it the right way, the first time...then come on here and let us know how it went, etc... :thumb
