Will not directly bolt in. Massive fabrication work will be needed to make it work.

Any idea on the hp output? 90 maybe 100. I hear of everyone talking about the gti motor, what size is that? I always thought it was the 1.3 that comes in some metros

Couple engines

6 valve 1.0l 3 cylinder
8 valve 1.3l 4 cylinder
16 valve SOHC 1.3l 4 cylinder
16 valve DOHC 1.3l 4 cylinder

The last two make the most power.

Would the 16v dohc 1.3l 4 cyl require a lot of modification to put in?

Not to my knowledge... Why do you want more power?

the prism motor would be difficult because its a toyota and does not have any similarity to the suzuki engines the metros have. what you want is the DOHC 1.3L :D Look here for info on the swap http://teamswift.net/viewforum.php?f=27 Pretty much ,find yourself a donor car. you gotta change over the wiring harness and ECU, motor mounts and axles, you can keep the transmission you've got, its the best for acceleration. Its best to have the other car sitting beside the one being swapped into so if you find a part that you need to switch out its already there. the Swift GTi (which has this engine) also has different front and rear knuckles and brakes. :evillol let the addiction begin :evillol

Sir, yes sir!

be warned that the GTi engine is OBDI and your car is OBDII. Also the fact that you are going from a 3 to a 4 cylinder engine will make your engine wiring harness all but incompatible. You will need these:

1.3 DOHC engine (complete)
4 cylinder axles (95 and up)
4 cylinder motor mounts (also need to drill a hole as one is missing on the 3cyl chassis)
donor car harness and computer / or stand alone engine management

It is not an impossible task, it's been done before. I just want you to get a feel for what you need to do.

Also, if there are emission tests in your area that car will automatically fail due to the removal of the OBDII system.

Damn that's a lot to think about maybe I'll try to find a 95- metro or swift with the 1.3 and rebuild it to my liking. High comp pistons ect ect

I'm working on a swap for the 1.3 16 valve SOHC engine on mine, its an OBDII system found in 98-01 metros. but other than keeping the OBDII its the same amount of work, still have to get the engine, wiring harness, ECU, axles, motor mounts etc... If you don't want a lot of work, just find yourself a car with the engine in it and buy it :D

Look, I know I am going to get royally flamed for this, but I think for that amount of work there are a lot better candidates for a performance 'toy' than a Geo Metro. The Metro doesn't have the handling capabilities of a lot of other cars out there that might make better 'toys'. Also (I know I will get royally smashed for uttering this blasphemy on this site) the Metro doesn't have the greatest styling (please forgive me). If it's straight line acceleration you want, it's hard to beat a late 80s early 90s Mustang 5.0 for the money. they can be made to be insanely fast and handle decently and there are tons of after market parts out there. It's been done a few times, sure, but bang for buck the Pony isn't too bad.
Want something that nobody has? I certainly understand that. Although not too cheap, a Buick grand National would make a lot of car guys wet their pants. And they're fast as hell too.
The Japanese stuff is cool and all, but just way too expensive.
Performance car stuff has gotten WAY out of hand price wise, so I really do understand the desire for a cheap 'sleeper'. I just think there are a lot of better cars out there than the metro for you to start with.

That being said, if you want a car that will get around 50 mpg and almost never die if you take care of it, there is only one car that fits that bill.....The Mighty Metro.

THAT being said, if you still want to go ahead with the metro build, I think it would be AWESOME!! And I'd love to see pictures when you get done.
