I myself would like to move to a 3.52:1 tranny with my 4 banger, however, since the car you have is already ahead of my own ( 96 ) I would ride with it the way it is and see what you have. Congrats on it being that simple a fix, and on the price, sure beat the luck I had when searching :thumb

Hah! Made an outrageous statement that started a firestorm then didn't come back until it was sorted out on it's own. Now that the original poster has driven the four cylinder car, he understands completely. The three cylinder is not enough engine for the newer cars. I had two early Metros, they were great. then I had two 3/5 MK4s, they were lame and got 43 mpg. Then I had two 4/5 MK5s, they were great and got 40 mpg. Not enough difference to make the incredibly low power acceptable.

If you do the swap, I'd be interested in buying the 4cyl engine and wiring harness :D

sorry couldn't do that even if I was doing the swap because I'd be putting it in another metro to sell. If i did that it would have a 4 cyl 4.39 final drive. then it would pretty much be a quarter mile rocket. lol

Yeah that's what I'm looking for one for. I want to swap the 16v 4 cyl into my vert with the 4.39 :D Good find on the swift, I'm looking for something similar for my swap. Though in my case, I don't care if the body is bad.

That's a little expensive. Unless rust is a big deal where you live and good bodies are hard to find? (I haven't read the thread, so IDK where you live)
