Just to throw in my two cents worth, I had a burned exhaust valve in my 1.3 at 175000 and I did what you're talking about. I pulled the head, threw a new valve in, and off I went. Now I've got a car with 200000 miles and I'm sitting here wishing I'd done the whole rebuild. I'm not using any more oil, but I'm having big time regrets at not taking care of it when I had the chance. Oh, and welcome! I'm new here too, but everyone is unbelievably helpful.

well now i am considering rebuilding the engine with the help of this site, i have never done this before but i think i can do it. i have started to take things off like the altanator, pullys, timing belt cover, and tb, next will be the intake and the valve cover which i have a question on and that is after u take the nuts off there is a washer holding the cover on i dont know how to get them off. after i get the head off would i be able to take the rest of the motor out by hand.... how much would it weigh without the tranny on it? with the tranny still in the car could i install a new clucth or would i have to take tranny out as well? how much would a full rebuild kit cost, could i reuse my pistons, any suggestion i would greatly appreicatethanks Dave |
