I (and my faulty clutch which caused the jump 10 feet forward)
just killed my 58.16 mpg dream via a Jeep Liberty

Oooh, those Jeep Liberties... can't stand them. Why? I was hit by one a few years back, some guy who just decided to randomly pull out into a busy roadway without looking. Totaled the metro that I had at that time, and of course the liberty didn't have a scratch. typical.

That looks repairable though. Was this totaled?

Oops!

Well to top off my week of repairs after my slow speed crash I took it for a test drive. :smackface

1. fixed the clutch with a new one. Thankfully no harm was done to the tranny (it was stuck in 3rd gear after the crash because the clutch would not engage)

2. banged / pushed out the dents in the hood so it would close and say closed or so I thought

Anyhow on the test drive the hood latch, I guess failed, and just as i got in to 5th at 55mph the hood flys up and over the car :shit

so now to fix.

I think the hood and hood mounting hardware is totaled so time to find a new one
A new hood latch as the one i have must not be working
bondo and touchup painting where the hood hit the roof and put a nasty dent/ scratch
eventually a new windshield as now there is a big old crack

But thankfully now one was hurt nor did the airborne hood hit anything except some corn

back in the garage for now :x

maybe wire the hood down just in case there's something else wrong in the latch mechanism when you take it out after the next set of repairs, some metros were recalled for a hood latch issue that would cause it to open at high speeds :(

The one you posted is the one I like the most (similar to the ones on my 69 Mach). With those puppies on, you will never have to worry about even having a latch :thumb

And I'm sure the '69 looks great! B-)
