I have 2001 Suzuki Swift 1.3 5speed. On start up after a night of sittin i come out to go to work fire it up and a puff of white smoke comes out the tail pipe. It clearly has the smell of burning oil. Then that will be it. I did a compression test on it and it was good in the 150s across the board. The motor has 133,000 on it and i was wondering if oil was running past the valve seals or if it could be coming from lifters bleeding by. If any one could give me some incite or there thoughts it would be cool.

my 1999 1.3 does the same thing, the only time I worry about it is if theres a motorcycle cop behind me :D
switch to synthitic oil, its does not burn so theres no smoke, at least that what the guy at auto zone told me to do on my next change ;)

DONT USE STOP LEAK/SMOKE the return holes in the head gasket are very small and they might clog with additives then motor go bye bye :(

No lifters in there. That's valve seals, maybe valve guides. Won't hurt a thing, just keep an eye on the oil level.

Synthetic oil burns just the same as regular oil, find a new guy to get advice from.

Yea, I work at AutoZone and that guy doesn't know what he's talking about. I'm lucky and have a good manager, but some manager's aren't so great and put a lot of put a lot of pressure on employees for better sales. That guy may have had a manager like that and was just trying to sell you the more expensive oil. Don't get me wrong, not all AutoZone's are like this and synthetic oil is better, but it won't magically fix a leak or be resistant to burning.

He's just saying what he needs to say to get a gulible customer to spend more money at their store.
