91 5 door project

I've been looking for a good condition 5 door to make my MPG project since the vert is now going with a MPH build :evillol . The 5 door is going to be my road trip car, its nice with the extra back seat room and plenty of cargo space compared to the vert. Plus AC (though not great for MPG) is really nice to have when you need it here with the 100% humidity 95F temps in the summer southeast. I was wanting a later model around '94 but I couldn't pass this one up :) also it shares the same design and parts as my '91 vert so I will be able to interchange parts if necessary.
I went up to central KY today (3 hour drive) to look at a '91 automatic with A/C 5 door hatchback that was listed on craigslist for $300. PO said there was a fuel system problem.

Here's the pic from the ad, unfortunately I didn't snap any pics while there.
Body has ~90K on it, engine was replaced in 2005 and have very few miles since then, its been parked most of that time. The last owner drove the car into a ditch and broke the oil filter off necessitating the engine change. The new owner put in the engine, a new alternator, and has a new water pump (said the one on the engine leaks intermittently) Front frame looks very good, paint has flaked off, but metal is very solid. no rust on body or rockers except a few small rock chips on the front of the hood. A/C doesn't cool, I'll have to take some time to figure out why, could be a relay or something simple. The fuel problem the PO mentioned was he didn't hear the fuel pump turn on when the car was cranked and wouldn't start, he though bad pump or relay. I messed with the relay and it started right up. Brakes have a leak somewhere as there was no brake fluid in the reservoir, probably a broken rubber brake line somewhere. Car runs strong and shifts smoothly. I'll be heading back in the next week to pick it up :D

That's a year older than my daily driver. My 92 was an auto with air but now is a 5 spd with air. They have a lot more power with the air on with the 5 spd. I've got all the parts(except the tranny)to switch that over to a 5spd if your interested. Ken...

Its a switch I'm considering, it gets too hot here to not have AC around town, and the auto is convenient, but the extra mpgs from the switch would be really nice. I may have to take a road trip to Montana. Its a nice state, I was there last summer visiting Yellowstone.

I'm thinking about painting it charcoal metallic, and tinting the windows. Oh, and putting some of these corolla lights on it :D (will necessitate a swift upper bumper cover and hood) but very cool looking!

I went and picked her up today. Aside from blowing a trailer tire 19 miles away from home (on the way back) everything went well. I met up with KYmetro on the way back and had a nice metro discussion, and did some planning for geopalooza. Fuel pump is still acting up. Relay is good, I've got to check voltage at the pump. It makes a very weak pump noise and sometimes doesn't work at all. Either the pump is bad, or a wire going to it is partially shorted/broken. More pics tomorrow after I get her home.

None of the wires have any power :( I don't want to run power to something that isn't the fuel pump.
