So I have a 98 Chevy Metro Lsi L4 1.3 Auto. I use the Haynes repair manuals to do all the work, but I still can't figure out two things. 1) As you're standing in front of the metro, you can see the air filter housing move up towards the intake manifold. Pictures show a smaller black tube to the upper left (facing firewall) of the engine compartment. What on earth is that? I don't have it. I see that there was something bolted on around there. Possibly a fluid resevoir or power steering pump? Anyone know? 2) I went to change the fuel filter. Haynes indicates its OUT of the tank. I followed mine from injectors to the tank - no filter. Haynes says 99 is in the tank, 98 is out. Is this possible haha? |

Haynes is miserable when it comes to smaller details, it's trying to cover three different bodies with six different engines in a book that is one third the size of the factory manual that is specific to one year. You have no fuel filter that should be changed in the course of regular maintenance. There is a one inch diameter plastic tube on the intake plumbing that runs along for about a foot and then ends without connecting to anything. Some sort of airflow or harmonics tuning, weird, but there. Look at the octopus under the right front fender if you want to see weird piping. Don't know what might be missing, post us a picture of your particular car and we'll tell you. (or guess) |
