Failed air pressure test

Hey guys, it's been awhile. The last time I was on my wife had wrecked my Metro & I was having a hard time locating parts. I finally located what I needed & put it back together with some American-Engineering.
Tried running it through inspection & the emissions were only off by a little, not much to worry about. HOWEVER in lower, slower, Delaware if your car is older & does not have a plug in for their computer they pressurize the gas tank. This I did NOT pass. I was "told" that a hole could be in the fill hose or the gas tank. I figured to ask the experts. Is there a way I can duplicate this test to find the leak or a way to find it without dropping the gas tank? Any help would be greatly appreciated as always.

Are they putting pressure in the tank, or are they pulling vacuum?

It's pressure - they do it here in Calif too.

They clamp the vent line at the carbon canister, install a special gas cap and hook it to a machine that pressurizes the tank a little and then watches to see if there is a bleed down.

Mine's been passing no problem. Check all the rubber lines on the tank and at the carbon canister and make sure they're not split.

And the fuel filler neck can rust out. You might want to remove it and look it over carefully if you can't find any bad hoses.

I has a completely rusted through filler neck on mine, also the vapor recovery hoses that go to the top of the neck can rust out as well. Taking it out is really easy, might be a good idea to check all the parts for rust/holes and leaky rubber lines.
