Steel inlet pipe rusting

I have two '92 Geo Metro XFI plus one dead (A-arm frame failure) one for parts. Here in central NY salt and corrosion are hideous. I will be learning to weld the two running cars frames sometime this summer to prevent collapse. I am chasing problems from electrical to cooling system right now. I found a corroded connection on the MAP sensor a few days ago. Before that I was soldering two pinholes that were more like pea holes by the time I brightened the metal on the steel extension to the waterpump inlet. I could use a better diagram or other's experience with replacing this part. Anybody wrangled with this one?

One screw on the back of the engine through a little tab (I believe its below the pipe), then it just pulls out, there's a rubber O ring where it goes into the back of the water pump. That's all there is to it :)
