i FINALLY got the head bolts off on the XFI, man those things fought back but i got them off! it got dark before i was able to take off all the hoses and connections off the intake but it's almost out. :rocker the head gasket is disgusting! it's broken in different pieces and had holes everywhere (i mean holes that aren't supposed to be there.) i might finally get this thing running soon! i'm so excited, i'm trying to find a camera to record my progress but no one i know has one SHUCKS! thanks for all the help guys i'm very excited!

I know how much fun your having, i did the same thing a couple months ago. Still putting it back together actually. Take lots of pics in case you forget how it goes back together, and to share on here to help other people out. Keep us updated.

ok so i unplugged everything everything connected to the intake, now my issue is that some of the hoses broke while i was taking them out, they were hard and cracked, is there a place were i could perhaps get a kit with all the hoses and such things that connect to the TBI/intake manifold?

I know you can go to your local parts house and get vacuum line and cut your own lengths that you need to replace those small vacuum lines. The bigger hoses such as coolant and brake booster hoses i have no idea. Check with your local auto house for prices while your there getting vacuum hose.

@HavsCritirea, Remember that our head bolts are designed to be used only once. They are designed to stretch. And they do. Try 3Tech for new replacements. Be patient. It takes a bit to get from Canada to here. But worth the wait. Congrats on getting them off

I know, thanks Murf, I plan on investing in those the next time i tear the block apart, cause i bought the gasket kit and head bolts (new) before I joined the forum.

well i finally got the head off :rocker , and i don't think I've ever seen such bad carbon deposits. the head gasket is so badly worn and falling apart it's falling into the coolant jackets, what do you guys think i should do? also how do i remove the stuck on pieces of gasket off the block and cylinder head? Thanks guys!

Did you do a compression test before you pulled it?
