'94 A/C Switch Panel...; Bought a Geo whose A/C switch panel was stolen...

Hello all; a great community you have here, and I'm glad to say I'm joining your ranks.

I do have one problem that I'm having difficulty searching the forums for... I recently purchased a '94 Geo Metro 3cyl manual hatch model. The previous owner said that the A/C holds pressure but that the panel for the A/C unit was stolen from the car, so the thing can't run without the appropriate items. I was wondering if anyone knew off-hand what items these would be?

I just bought a '96 A/C assembly (panel and wiring) on an impulse buy on Ebay, and I'm very much regretting that. My guess is that it's not compatible with the '94 even though the seller's description claimed it might be. I was going on his vague compatibility description and a picture that was mislabeled on Google that showed the same A/C assembly on a suppsedly-94 car. But the switches, etc., are different, no? Or...? I know that '96s are of a different generation than the '94s, but I was praying that this was one piece of equipment that could be cross-compatible...?

My car has a bad driver's side window regulator, so I would prefer to have the window taped up in the meantime and working air down here in Florida... But I need to know what parts to get, and I'm just terrified that I've wasted a fair amount of money on a non-essential Ebay item.

I've seen $40+ A/C heater switches available on the web that claim to work on a '94 Metro, but I don't understand how they would.

I'm sorry for being a young idiot in all of this; I've searched and searched for numerous combinations of search terms on Google to try to address this issue, so I was hoping you guys could help.

All care, Layla.

96 wont be compatable. Check to see what wiring there is for the ac and take pics for us so we know what we are looking at. I would suggest getting any parts at a salvage yard.

Thank you, ever so, for your reply.

I was at the junk yard just yesterday for a 2-hour span; any and all Geos they had had been picked clean. I live in Fort Myers and have exhausted their resources, but I think I'm going to try for Miami-yards in the future. Otherwise, I'm perfectly willing to buy replacement parts online.

I keep coming across this site:
Best Auto PartsBest Auto Parts

The parts are expensive, but they at least look promising. I mean, how many little switcheroos does one need to have cool air blowing? I'll try to have pics and upload them; unfortunately for me, my life is going to be grad-school-assignment hell for the next few days.

I also found a Turkish site with schematics for the Swift/Geo, but I barely know what I'm looking at when I'm looking at them.
AC Electronics - 94 SwiftLINK TO AC ELECTRONICS
http://suzukat.prokee.hu/swift2/118.htm
http://suzukat.prokee.hu/swift2/120.htm

I also add those URLs in case no one else has come across the http://suzukat.prokee.hu resource. They offer great schematics. All you have to do is isolate the frame that you need translated (right-click; open frame in new tab) in Chrome and a Google translator option will come up to get the headings into English. Otherwise, one can try just pointing and clicking around; the schematics feature English even if their linked headings do not.

I really should upload these things into the schematics resource thing on this site, but I'm swamped right now.

Anywho... At this point, I think I'm going to try to take it to an air conditioner repair-type guy and try to see what he says about coming across parts. But this is depressing. I've also called a number of people on Craigslist ads across Florida to ask if they still had these parts; thus far, no dice.

Much thanks, again, Bryan.

All care, Layla.

Welcome to the forum, laylajune! :coffee

Just to :bump this and give it a few days for other members to respond... we have some parts cars that members are disassembling and might have what you want. You can try listing the wire harness in our For Sale section.

Please post pictures. They are fun to look at and will give everyone a better idea of what you think the issue is.

Not clear what it is that you need. The only thing on the dashboard that has to do with A/C is the actual pushbutton that says A/C on it. Do you have the four levers that control the heat?

Well I'll be damned! I do have the four heater levers. I guess it's just the a/c selector button and the bezel face/control panel that are missing...?

The guy that sold it said that there was a control module inside the plastic face that controlled the a/c to-do; I assumed it was something that was housed in the unit in a dedicated way. I've been trying to find info on this online, but it's been hard to locate. Do I only need something akin to this:
AC SWITCH ?

If so, that would be peachy. I just took some pics and I can have them up in a minute. I got a pic of the center dash console and a couple of the car, but I couldn't get to the wiring beyond the heater-lever-to-do...

The car is far from glamorous, though. I paid $700 for this car. It drives well, but it looks... not-so-great. I've named her "Melly" - as short for "Melon", because she's that odd turquoisey-greenish color and reminds me of a little melon. I just hope she's not a melon in the vernacular-slangish sense...

Thank you guys for your replies! I feel welcome. : )

Argh... Hey, sorry. I wish I'd waited, but I already bought a bezel for the thing today; it lacks the A/C switch, though. Is there any chance you'd sell me just the A/C switch - the button with the attached wire? What would you want for something like that? Much thanks, though.
