Hi everyone, I sign up just a few days ago since I purchase my first Metro just the weekend before. It's a 1992 4dr hatchback, very original. Paid $100 for the little beauty and love it!! I have been reading all over the forum and see where my new purchase has some minor signs of the common cancer outbreak but determine to repair this baby. During the 100 mile tow dolly hauling the left rear arm partially free itself as rust had eaten away at it. When I stop to inspect it I see that it could make the rest of the journey which it did. Now I'm a bit mechanical and I was able to fix the problem pointed out by the seller: Want a starter and there is a loud knocking from the top of the engine. Starter fix was simple by putting a new wire between the salonoid and starter body because that was eaten away or got hot and burn off. Got it started and the loud knocking was very noticeable. Some oil in the air filter pan also. All electrical component works fine. Carpet and mats in great shape. Good solid interior. Body is straight allround but the running board and support for the rear control arm. I have great plans for it and plan on keeping for a long, long, long, long time. I reside Wisconsin, and ofcourse, snow country and the toll on vehicles is a given. I will try and get some photos up soon and keep you guys updated on the progress. I am looking forward to interactions and friendly exchanges on the forum. Thank y'all. |

Welcome new_kid- Have a look around and enjoy your stay. There is a lot to learn here and feel free to ask questions. We might not always have the right answers, but hey, they are answers. It is a pretty nice group to share your day with, when my internet access was extremely limited, I really missed this place. Edward |

The rear control arm breaking away from the body is a bit more tricky that the forward control arms to reweld and strengthen. However, I've done it before and can share some ideas with you once you get everything assessed. Feel free to IM. |

Welcome to the forum, new_kid! Look forward to pics. Oil in the air filter is likely the PCV valve needing to be replaced, it's at the bottom of the "Y" tube between the valve cover and air cleaner that needs to be cleaned. I have made Seafoam Maintenance a regular activity. |

Hi Metro Fanatic.. Kool! Nice knowing I have a Wisconsin Metro owner here. I am east of Wausau in Eau Claire. I have a Montero Sport that I used for the Winter . But the two-car garage holds the wife's PT Cruiser and my BMW, which doesn't see winter. I plan on covering it and put it aside during the season. How's Wausau doing? |
