I have a 90 2dr. 5 spd...The engine is something newer. A few sensors have the wires cut and the vacuum tubes don't go to them. The engine has a rather different valve cover than my 89 or even my 93 engine (in a 94) It will only run on almost full advance and the idle is really high. There is some power if you floor it but lots of hesitation...when you back off, it pops out the exhaust. (new muffler) About that valve cover, it has a peaked area to the left and then flat to the right. It is a 3 cylinder with one cam however. I changed the distributor arrangement and it has a dual vacuum advance on it. I have a funny feeling that the computer wasn't switched with the engine? Isn't that necessary? How do I identify the year/type/model engine??? Where can I get a compatible computer? Is there a manual that will walk me through the steps necessary? Seems as though I will need to wire a few things from the computer to the engine? Is there someone here that has done this and has a step by step explanation of the process? Thank you,,,owlafaye@yahoo.com |

pics? you might want to check into timingbelt being off? also compression test? But the only way to really give you accurate advice is pics. it could just be sensors the computer doesn't need. or it could solve all your problems. Also is the cel(check engine light) on? |

Sounds like you got a Hemi Head from a Chevy Sprint or Suzuki Swift from 88 and earlier. EDIT some of those engines where carburated... some where turbo charged with multi port???? (wild guess i mostly stick with metros not too big on the sprints) and mabey some where TBI... but i would think the head would stay the same wether it was carbed or TBI. Other members are more than welcome to Corect me if im wrong. Edited for more info. Edited by Potter, Jul 7 2010, 07:46 PM.
