Boots is her name and she is a 1998 Chevy Metro 1.0 TBI Standard. Coloured like no other and purchased for dirt cheap. I payed $600 dollar which got me an engine with about 94,000km, light surface rust on the under body, good brakes, great transmission, and like new tires.

Boots was owned by two owners, both in the same family. Boots was won through a contest held by the local shopping mall and driven home a week later to a happy new owner. Boots was given away to the original owners father who took great care of it as he was a transport truck mechanic. The father drove the car to the liquor store and back, rarely going on long trips to far away places. When I heard it was for sale from my friend (who is the son of the original owner) I immediately jumped on the opportunity and went to go see the car. It was beautiful. The car started and ran with ease, drove it around the block and it drove smoothly. The shifting and steering were a bit hard but the car had been sitting for four months. Everything checked out well!

Here are some photographs.

I look forward to learning a lot more about this car and cars in general, through tinkering and learning how to fix things through this forum.

Oh yeah, she doesn't start.

I can't help myself from asking, how did you drive a car that won't start?

Boots started flawlessy both times I went to see the car. The second was a week later.

Made arrangements with the owner for her to drive it up to a garage for safety purposes, started fine, ran fine, got up to the garage and stalled in the parking lot.

Even if the car need work, as long as the frame is solid (Read the FAQ) it's worth fixing up no matter what. In the long run, it will pay you back many times over.
