:lol lol... it was his daughter's metro. He was using it to pick up a new radiator for his dodge dakota.

Here are pics of my sweet new vert. I can't believe how long it took me to figure out how to post a picture on here! :die
Here you can see how I am trying my best to remove the pink stickers, it is a pain to get these things off. And it is leaving a sticky residue that I really don't know how to get off. Will goo-gone work?

I replaced both inside door handles after work today, as they were hanging by threads. I also replaced the red center tail light panel with a black one (I think it looks better.)

Look 3/4 way down this page, I dealt with the same thing.

A hair dryer or heat gun soften the adhesive and make the sticker much easier to peel off, just blow it onto the car, then peel it off as you move the heat forward. I used carb cleaner sprayed onto the glue then a rag soaked with paint thinner to clean it off.

Nice looking vert, geocat32987. Prime for some skulls and flames, eh.

you purchased a white and pink metro from a guy in the military? i guess that blows that whole "dont ask dont tell" policy out the window......lol
oh WOW!

That IS rather curious...

I would totally grab that for my wife, though.

she'd love it.

edit:

his daughter! I see!

A nice grab.

I did some thorough investigating under the carpet and body panels today, I was relieved to not find a single rust hole. There is some surface rust in the floor pans, but it will meet its end when I coat it in rust arrestor tomorrow. This is one vert that will NOT succumb to the deadly rust cancer. The headlights flop around like crazy, I'll have to fix the mounts and get nuts and bolts to secure them properly.

The only major rust on the car is on the tailgate panel above the tail lights. That can be replaced, I will just have to find a white one somewhere. I guess the 93 models are the ones with the metal tailgate panels, instead of the plastic ones.

Seems to me that Suzuki (or GM, whichever one did the body design) really improved upon the verts in 1993. The weatherstrips hug the windows really good with that plastic retainer piece, and the plastic boot covers seem much stronger than the previous ones. There's lots of extra screws holding things together.
But the trunk lid feels like MUCH thinner metal, almost like tin foil.

I am a dude. Therefore I need a stick to handle. I don't want something doing what I usually do with my stick automatically for me. *enough innuendo?
I think you made a few mistakes, cause if your handling your own stick, your not doing it right :evillol

Will love seeing pics when they arrive :popcorn
I don't get it.....Bogs wants to see pics of CB handling his own stick?? That's disgusting!!

I prefer "the stick" as well over automatics, but I had to part with my 91 convertible 3/5 because my daughter 'can't handle a stick," which as a father I would hate to see her handling sticks at this point in her life anyway.

Enough innuendo part 2?

zomg.

I would prefer a stick... but getting a $3000 dollar car for $1400 was worth the sufferance for me.

besides, way easier city driving. and I can pass it over to my wife and get a stick later.

Took a few more pics with the pink stickers peeled off completely. I tried Mcmancuso's carburetor cleaner and paint thinner method for removing the stickiness, and I must say it worked really well. Just took LOTS of elbow grease to get that jellied adhesive off.

Notice the tight original Geo dealer tag I have mounted on the front! :P

I ran into a fellow Metro owner while in this parking lot, he drove up in a red '95 metro hatchback. Really nice guy, we chatted about our gas mileage and this and that. He really liked my vert and he said he was interested in finding one like it sometime. I hope he is able to, I can tell that he was a person who really cared about these cars. :rocker

Duct tape heals all wounds

Looks really clean :thumb I should have mentioned earlier that nail polish remover would also work for this, but wash it off immediately.

It is pretty clean, though if you look real close under the rocker area, there is a very small area of paint that is bubbling, probably with rust under it. It has just started to poke through, but it can be nipped in the bud easily. ;)

Would it be a good idea to pour a small teaspoon amounts of Ospho rust arrestor down into the rocker wells (inside with the top up, where you can reach down in there), or would it just sit there and eat through? I may drill a small drain hole towards the rear of the panel so that any water can drain out before creeping along the length of it.
