Narrowed some of my rear end noise down to the tailpipe and rear muffler. I have no clue how the rear muffler is attached. Can someone out there post a picture and make a recomendation . I presently have a glass pack in place behind the catalytic convertor. When I purchased the little guy the exhast was in a shambles. Also found that the sway bar links were loose. Don't know why thought I had them tightened up. J. Mullet help. Dave(old guy) Henderson |

I posted this in the other thread too, just so you don't miss it: Exhaust should have several of these rubber figure 8 looking things holding it to the brackets under the car:

on the pic above for the hanger, how they are attached would depend on who attached them. If it was a shop or a home that had a welder, it would most likely be welded on. If your average shadetree did it, it will be clamped together with U-bolts. Either way works, however when your taking them apart the weld would need to be cut through the entire pipe, where as the U-bolt usually only needs one or both sides of the bolt cut off and some gentle persuasion from a dead blow hammer (not always, sometimes just slides off if the bolts weren't compressed enough).

looks like the hanger is welded to the muffler and hung off the undercarriage. Mine had no hanger on the muffler. I welded a hanger to the pipe and hung it high up with a strap. I posted pictures some weeks ago. Just doesn't seem right to me. I did not put the rear muffler on. Thought it would bang on the running gear. Dave |

![]() I am pointing to a bracket that was hanging of the undercarriage and do not know what it was there for. It appears to have been cut with a torch. Is this the hanger for the rear muffler? Dave |

That looks right (hard to tell though) the part that passes between the swing arm and the frame is just the pipe, the muffler attaches past that point in that well towards the rear. |

that bracket is the one I took my picture of, mine has the rubber piece attached instead of that metal strap piece under the bolt. Its the outer mount point for the muffler. |
