Hey guys, just wanted to join and introduce myself. I've been Geo admirer for a while, and picked up my first Metro about 3 years ago....a 1994 3-dr/5-sp with A/C & 54,000 original miles for $1400. She runs perfect then and still does today. She has 81,000 miles on her now, and the only repairs I've had to do were tires, brakes and wheel bearings (damn those wheel bearings). HAHA!

Well, over the weekend I bought a 1987 Chevy Sprint Turbo. It was at a local car donation place (why someone donated it I have no clue). It seems to run good, other than the clutch slipping a little. I just wanted to get feedback from other Sprint owners, about their quirks or common issues/problems (like the EGR valve on metro's).

Thanks!

Nice grab, what did you wind up paying for the Sprint?

I paid $1200 for it. It has 241,000 miles on it, with a new engine at 155,000 back in December 1998. In the glove box was a MPG book from the original owner who owned it for 3 years. He was getting around 36-44 MPG until the car hit about 8,000 miles. Then he was recording 43-49 MPG, which tells me 1 of 2 things. Either he learned how to drive the car more economically, or it took breaking the car in to produce better MPG numbers.....or maybe both. I am the 3rd owner and hopefully the last. The previous owner had it since 1990.

I was comparing this and the Swift GTi, and was considering either one. The more research I did, I started liking the Sprint Turbo better. I've never driven a Swift GTi, but the minute I drove the Sprint, I knew I wanted it.

You're right about the mileage. Probably learned to drive it...and it was fully broken in.
