I have a 1993 Geo Metro Convertible that I am converting to Electric...

I have all the Major Components, so now it is time to Pull the Engine....

I will GIVE THE ENGINE AWAY to anyone who wants to pull it (neatly) from the chassis here...

I need the Trans-axle and clutch, so I was HOPING to pull the engine without pulling the trans-axle...

The Engine is running Now, with minimal smoke (only when starting)...no leaks that I know about...

I have already removed the AC stuff (compressor, radiator, hoses, etc..)

I do NOT have an engine lift, but do have a Grease pit (old house)...

I am in Darnestown Maryland, near Route #28 and Route #124

Email me if you are interested....

Well, your a bit far from where I am, so no chance I'd be able to get it out, however you could read this http://geometroforum.com/topic/2539369/1/ as a guide on how to pull it. You wouldn't need a hoist per se, I'm pretty sure BB pulled his using rope and a C-clamp attached to the header rafter.

As far as I know, though, you can't really drop them straight down. It may be possible, if you do attempt it I would make for dang sure to have a very tall jack available to take it through in as small an increment as possible.

It's only like 3 bolts now, you've done the brunt of the work.

2 engine mount bolts, really. Passenger side left and rear. He wants to keep the tranny, right? So one of the major engine mount bolts is from the tranny. Plus there are the bolts that connect the tranny to the block (how many, I'm not sure!).

I it's 7 bolts, they're all 14mm IIRC. 4 engine mount, 3 bell housing, and then a few 10mm ones on the dust cover.

Sorry for the delay... I have been watching another forum for the responses to this one, and they weren't there, surprise surprise...

I am in no hurry

I do want to keep the transaxle in place as the Electric Motor bolts back to it and the Front engine mount....

I THINK it is just the Clutch housing bolts, the front engine mount and that SHOULD be it... but never having done it...

Supposedly you CAN pull the engine without pulling the transaxle... the same procedure for replacing the clutch...

Oh yes... It is a MANUAL Transaxle...

Anyone interested please send me an email Directly to garage (at) sissonfamily (dot) com

I would be interested to see what your electric drive assembly consist of. Do you have it in paper form or is just something do come up with yourself?
