Hello all. My name is Rico and I'm looking to buy an 89-94 Metro for a work car. I drive 70 miles round trip to my job and my hemi ram gets about 16 mpg. Ouch! I use to own an 86 Chevy Sprint that got about 48mpg avg but gave it to my stepson. I am considering a 91 3cyl 5speed 2dr that is supposedly rust free and in great shape with 120k miles. The car has been repainted because the hood and fender was replaced with one from a different color car. Oh, it also has new tires. What you guys think a car like this is worth these days? I would have to drive a couple of hours to look at it. Thanks in advance for any feedback. |

Where do you have to drive to look at it? Do a compression test on it. If the numbers come back good, and the car is in decent all around shape 1000 is fine. If it needs any work, that number drops FAST. |

It's on Craigslist in the Atl. area. It's listed as a 92 but really a 91. The guy said it needs nothing. I think he wants a little too much though. |

GA Geo, how much is too much? That magic number varies. In the rust belt states, rust free is almost unheard of. Price goes up. Cost of gas going up? Price of a Metro follows. Is the car possibly an xfi? Price goes up (Metro fanatics will drive the price of these models above regular Metro prices in auction conditions). Look at Johny Mullet's Buyer's guide to get a grip on what to look for before you buy a car. Hopefully, you will find the Metro of your dreams, and we will see you back here on the forum. Good luck on the Metro buy! |

Yeah, I've been snooping around on here for a couple of weeks now and have checked out the buyers guide. I've got a pretty good grasp on the kind of car I'm looking for and this particular one is it. I just don't know if it is worth what the guy is asking for it. Check it out on Craigslist and tell me what you guys think. It's the competition blue one listed as a 92 in Atlanta/Lawrenceville for $1650. I think its just the base model.

It's in PERFECT condition...it's just too much money for a Metro...I don't care what anyone says. http://atlanta.craigslist.org/atl/ctd/1845100746.html Edited by Coche Blanco, Jul 22 2010, 01:07 AM.

$1650. is a bit pricey, the underside would tell you if its worth it or not, but at that price I'd expect a lot less miles. It is purdy though. |

I would say around 1100 is good for that one, but NOTHING over that. Really the "price" is what you're willing to pay. That Metro has been relisted a few times... |

He said he spent 500 on the paint but I guess he shouldn't have invested that much on the car. He has another one for sale for around 1000 and its newer but its not as nice. I think I'll just keep looking but that is the specs I want in a Metro; 89-94 5sp, 3cyl, 2-dr, comp blue and no dents. Needs a/c though. |

I mean... it lacks A/C... in GEORGIA. That drops the price quite a bit, IMO. lol |
