Hey guys!

Really great site you have here. My girlfriend and I are currently looking to buy our first car. We have been looking at every car under the sun! We don't really want to spend a lot of money, for sure under $2500. That's when I came across the Geo Metro. It covers our main concerns, reliable and fuel efficient. Haven't really had much luck looking at our local craigslist so came to this site to get some more information and maybe even find a car. Oh and it has to be Automatic. All the ones we find are manual :(

Any information or heads up about the car would be welcome!

Thanks :)

Welcome to the site Noel. ^o)
Sure is nice to see another Minnesotan join the ranks here on the forum. :rocker
If you need any help with the Metro hunt, let me know, and I can keep an eye out here in Southern MN. I live about 20 miles SW of Rochester.

Do not buy this car in an auto, if you want good mileage and an auto, look elsewhere.

Sorry, but that's just the truth.

Welcome to the forum, NoelTheMole! :coffee

Do you have a pre "Item-hood" agreement. We all want Geos to go to good stable homes.
Seriously, nice that you two agree on what car you want - together.

Have you seen: PSA: Metros on Craigslist?

...and http://craiglook.com/.

Why does it have to be an automatic?
She is actually brand new to driving and needs an automatic. I have never driven a manual. I'm sure I would do fine with it, her on the other hand not so much.

Is it really true that the automatic version gets poor gas mileage? How bad are we talking?

Bad Bent Thanks for the links, Checking those out now :)

1DCGuy that would be great if you could keep an eye out. I live right smack in minneapolis.

Ideally we would like a pink or purple metro!

Welcome NoelTheMole! Its good to see a fellow minnesotan thinking of going Geo.
:)

Manuals typically get much better gas mileage because of the 4th and 5th gears. Most automatics are 3speed.

Welcome aboard Noel. Contrary to what CB posted, pick the car that suits you automatic or not would be my philosophy.

Welcome to the forum, Noel. :D

I have a '97 automatic, and mileage-wise I consistently get 34-35 mpg and I have over 200,000 miles on her. I used to get 36-37, but miles the miles add up. I know they have on me! :D

Of course, it all depends on how you drive. :nfs

The transmission hasn't given me any trouble...yet. ;)

I'm sure you'll find one to suit your needs. Post some pics when you get one. :popcorn
