Automatic goes against both of your criteria, reliability and mileage. It's really not that hard to learn, I learned by driving my automatic first car down to the dealership and trading it in on a manual. There was a time when there was no such thing as an automatic, and the manuals back then were harder to work as they weren't synchronized. People managed to do it, even women. |

That is true, however there is areason you see more autos than manuals today, even hybrids of auto/manuals. Mileage means different things to different people, I'm quite happy getting 40 out of my 4 cyl stick, billcnc matches my 40 in his auto, I'd say thats a wash. I'm pretty sure reliability is about the same regardless. Just another point of view. |

stick or automatic? i guess it depends on the individuals taste... good gas milage either way, and no car payment = happiness...
