Good info Enginedoc. I think I may have said before but business that cater to the trades, ie Electrical, plumbing etc, sometimes have a message boards where people can post msgs. I am thinking mostly of Electrical supply places like Graybar, Myers, etc. All ways good to go in because they have free drinks and most of the time something to snack on. Dont bug them if they are busy but a counter man usually knows who is doing what. Unions have very very good programs. It might take some work to get the right contact but it can pay big reward. My brother in law when thought a electrical apprentice program and did very well. You can even look a see who is pulling permits. Gives you a little bit of a edge. You can call and say something like " Hello I see you are going to be building a Condo(or what ever) and I would like to be part of it. Could I come in a fill out a employment application? :banana :banana :banana

Here is a link to a place called NARMs. http://www.narms.com/cgi-bin/sjb.cgi?fnc=jb I have used them to find reset jobs. I still get emails and calls from people wanting to know if i would be interested in doing reset work. I would not do any of the Mystery shopper or the Greeting card or drug store sets, but that is just me. Tuesday I got a call for people looking to do the ceiling Fan set for Lowes. It paid 15 a hour not much for sure but if you need a job. The Fan set and the flooring set are pretty hard. Lots of climbing and reaching to set the fans in the "Cloud". Most reset work is at night from about 8pm to 6 am Monday thru Thurday. They dont like to reset on the weekend. Find the right group of guys to work with and it can almost be fun. Anyways it worked for me. Your results may vary. LOL :banana :banana :banana

LOL I am on a roll so bear with me. Christmas is coming and the call for Assemblers will go out soon. There are companys that contract with the big box stores to put stuff together. Bicycles, bar b que grills, etc, you get paid by the piece so if you are good with you hands and can read instruction you can do ok, As always the first couple you do will be slow but then you get the hang of it and can make some money. I did it for a couple of weeks. They always seem to need people. At Lowes there is a vendors log that every one has to sign in on. If you can get a peek at it it you can figure out who is doing all their work or just hang out there around closing time and see if any work is going on. :banana :banana :banana .

I'm really embarrassed to say...I still don't have a job. I'm doing something wrong, I don't know what it is...but i'm not even getting calls or anything. I've applied everywhere, and right now, i'm making calls to said places to see if they've gotten my application.

Desperate? Wow, dude, You really have some balls saying that. Serving your country = desperate?

Once again, like Horn, I serve in the National Guard, I got a job, I still have two jobs currently, and I'm in grad school.

It's time you adjust your piss poor attitude man.

I went through basic training a few years ago; that's when they force you to lose the little boy attitude and learn how to respect others.

Well damn if kids aren't forced to join they rarely will. Its called a volunteer military but few volunteer. I think only 5% of 18 yr olds are fit enough to join and then probably .01% of them join. ridiculous, I think everyone should have to join when they are young even if they can't give in give it a chance. All you hear is how young kids can't get a job, but whenever I was on active duty I made good money because I didn't have to pay for anything. I also think its ridiculous getting unemployment and financial aid for college without serving/attempting to serve. I went through basic when I was 17 and definitely grew up fast.

Joining the military USED to be a great way to start off life and and an honorable concept. I was all set to join the airforce. I would have skipped most of boot camp started off 3 e grades higher and gone almost straight into officer training for a career military position. (lots of time and advancement in CAP and NJROTC)

alas I was rejected (can't see out of one eye) at the time (1994) they did not NEED soldiers so they used anything to reject someone.

I am glad. I would NOT be happy or feel at all honorable in today's military which is nothing more than a "private police force" for our federal governments imperial agenda.

No thanks.

Our dead soldiers are rolling in their graves at how our military is being used and what our government is doing to this nation and what our CITIZENS are NOT doing.

very very sad.

I hope one day this country turns around and military service once again becomes and honorable profession.
