CB -- if you're serious, take a look at the U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) as an option.

Desperate? Wow, dude, You really have some balls saying that. Serving your country = desperate?

Once again, like Horn, I serve in the National Guard, I got a job, I still have two jobs currently, and I'm in grad school.

It's time you adjust your piss poor attitude man.
Dude, stop replying to me. You've got some chip on your shoulder about me, I don't know what it is...I can't fix it, so just stop replying.

Joining the military USED to be a great way to start off life and and an honorable concept. I was all set to join the airforce. I would have skipped most of boot camp started off 3 e grades higher and gone almost straight into officer training for a career military position. (lots of time and advancement in CAP and NJROTC)

alas I was rejected (can't see out of one eye) at the time (1994) they did not NEED soldiers so they used anything to reject someone.

I am glad. I would NOT be happy or feel at all honorable in today's military which is nothing more than a "private police force" for our federal governments imperial agenda.

No thanks.

Our dead soldiers are rolling in their graves at how our military is being used and what our government is doing to this nation and what our CITIZENS are NOT doing.

very very sad.

I hope one day this country turns around and military service once again becomes and honorable profession.
talking bad about the military yet u reap the benefits of what the military does. I do appreciate that you attempted. but joining the military is still a great way to start a life. It keeps you fit, mentally strong, and starts you off pretty well financially.

he is on your case because you called joining the military desperate. Are military leaders desperate? people that fight for their country desperate? now you don't have to agree with the war, but that is not the soldiers fault. and how are you going to expect a soldier not to respond to something like that.

I guess in Coche's world, it's better living with mommy and having no job. Hell, sounds like welfare. Yup, sit around all day and have a chip on your shoulder with nothing to show for it.

Well damn if kids aren't forced to join they rarely will. Its called a volunteer military but few volunteer. I think only 5% of 18 yr olds are fit enough to join and then probably .01% of them join. ridiculous, I think everyone should have to join when they are young even if they can't give in give it a chance. All you hear is how young kids can't get a job, but whenever I was on active duty I made good money because I didn't have to pay for anything. I also think its ridiculous getting unemployment and financial aid for college without serving/attempting to serve. I went through basic when I was 17 and definitely grew up fast.
True, and too many are overweight. And lazy.
I'm overweight, but that does not mean that I am in bad shape.

Dude get off the kids back, the military is not for everyone. Just because you joined doesn't mean that you can talk shit to him because he doesn't want to. I guess because I didn't join means I am worthless too.

My dad and friends are/were in the military, I have much respect for them. But they unlike you don't think that they are better than the people who don't join.

Rarely do I side with coche, Cause quite frankly he's a prick, but you two need to take it down a notch. He doesn't want to join the military, period, he just wants a job. You need to get that elephant trunk out your asses. Desperation is probably in regards to soldiers being sent over seas and being killed for reason not relevant to the countries well being. He doesn't want to risk his life for something, done, if he was desperate, then he wouldn't mind having to risk his life, this not being the case. So, If you've nothing helpful to say why post?

Coche, try looking for call centers, there is a call center near where I live, and they give a mandatory 25 hours a week, along with fairly decent pay. 8.50 or so, and it's a pretty easy job, you just wait for people to call you. Look into it; you might get lucky.
