I followed my grandmothers lead!!! It got me nowhere. :D

Yeah I guess I could join the Army or something...but i'm not that desperate...maybe I am.
wow do you guys even know why we are on his case? this quote is why. He is not "desperate" enough to join the military. That right there is disrespect to people that join the military.
You guys think we are getting on him for not joining the military thats not it. we are saying that he needs to straighten up his attitude and not talk about the military and soldiers like that. Does anyone else here think serving your country is "desperate"? A country where you have many freedoms that were gained by the men in uniform.

I said I was not that desperate for a job. I didn't say the people that joined were desperate. You're reading insults in my posts that aren't there.

That is not the point, do you realize how many people join the military as their last resort. Ya people join to serve their country, but a lot join because the are desperate. That is just how the world works. Sorry to burst your bubble man.

Joining the military USED to be a great way to start off life and and an honorable concept. I was all set to join the airforce. I would have skipped most of boot camp started off 3 e grades higher and gone almost straight into officer training for a career military position. (lots of time and advancement in CAP and NJROTC)

alas I was rejected (can't see out of one eye) at the time (1994) they did not NEED soldiers so they used anything to reject someone.

I am glad. I would NOT be happy or feel at all honorable in today's military which is nothing more than a "private police force" for our federal governments imperial agenda.

No thanks.

Our dead soldiers are rolling in their graves at how our military is being used and what our government is doing to this nation and what our CITIZENS are NOT doing.

very very sad.

I hope one day this country turns around and military service once again becomes and honorable profession.
talking bad about the military yet u reap the benefits of what the military does. I do appreciate that you attempted. but joining the military is still a great way to start a life. It keeps you fit, mentally strong, and starts you off pretty well financially.
Yes I reap what our military sowes. bombings on the trade towers with airliners. distaste for american throughout many portions of the world.

an addiction to oil our government refuses to let us break

spending us into bankruptcy with our imperial agenda.

yeah LOVING those benefits. the sad part is its NOT the military doing this per say but the executive branch and congress MAKING them do it (ordering)

we are slowly but steadily LOSING everything our past soldiers gave their LIVES to secure for us.

Franklin said it best.

"We have given you a republic for so long as you can keep it."

Its not that its a bad way to get going in life its just no longer and HONORABLE means in my book.

Our military should be used to DEFEND THIS NATION and to DEFEND those that can not defend themselves.

not to use force to push an agenda that most are not even AWARE of not to speak of in support of. ie private bully force to "get our way"

that was NEVER the intent of our military yet that is what its been boiled down to today. a place to spend a ton of our resources and a way to bend the world to our whim.

NOT honorable. not even a little bit.

40 years ago it would have been an HONOR an out and out privilege to serve. Today it would mean SERVING a regime that has absolute disdain for everything this country stands for. today it means being a thug for the whoever current administration.

hehe sorry. no more politics and military posts :-) ok :-)

finding a job is HARD. there is currently 3 to 5 people PER job opening depending on where you live.

its not an easy time thats for sure and we have it EASY compared to similar times in the past which is scary because this prevents people from seeing how truly bad this is and could be.

ie when the shit truly hits the fan so much of this population is SO not going to be ready for it.
