I just bought a driver window for my 93 Metro. I took the door panel off and put it in. But the window does not want to stay on the tracks. When it goes up the left side seems to slide to the right. So this causes me to push it back in place and roll it up. I have to constantly keep pushing on the window to keep it where it needs to go. Its in now and up all the way. But when I roll it down its ok other then when i roll it back up. the window slides toward the front of the car I guess. Any one replace theres and did something I am missing? Anything would help......thanks. |

Use the search and look for window regulator repair, or something similar. There are many threads on this issue for you to read. Your regulator is your culprit. and your tracks probably need lube. |

Sounds like you might have left the bolt out of the left side track that bolts to the bottom of the door. Its a metal track that pushes up into the other piece and a bolt holds it up. |

The cause of your problem is that the window guide rail's mount brackets are bent, usually because the glass was binding in the rubber channels of the guide rail. Roll the window all the way up. Look at the bottom of each guide for the attaching Phillip screw. Remove the rails. Now look at the mounts. Chances are that they are bent. They should be at a 90 degree angle to the rail.Carefully bend back to a 90 degree angle. I usually find the front screw has broken free of the door. The fix here is to put the bracket in a vice and then use Vice grips to remove the screw from the guide by it's stem without twisting the guide rail. Reinstall the guide rails back in the door and use a large flat washer to secure the front guide. (The bottom mount hole in the door for the rear mount is slotted to give you some amount of adjustment ). While the window is up, spray the rubber channels with silicone spray lube. This step is going to prevent the glass from dragging and binding against the rubber, rather than sliding as it should. Now you need to carefully bend the guides as needed if necessary to achieve final fit. Once you're done, just remember to spray the rubber channels once in a while. I hope this helps you out. |
