Can someone give me detailed step-by-step instructions on how to replace front wheel bearings on a '98 Metro hatchback? I've never replaced a wheel bearing before...

You've got a 1 piece bearing in yours.
It's a bit of a pain mostly due to the outside inner race staying on the hub and there's not lip to catch to get it off easily.
I had to use a few different large sockets as a drift to pound out the outer sleeve, the hub, etc.

You'll need new inner and outer seals tool.

see here for an exploded diagram

I appreciate the advice so far, but I need a step-by-step guide, preferably with pictures. Can anyone help with that?

Thanks, Bad Bent. So, it appears I need to rent a slide hammer to do this...

Why not just go out there and do it, and if you get stuck, you take pictures and we'll help you from there?

STOP. EDITED
Check out the $40 slide hammer at Harbor Freight, 950 28th st. SW.

It has the 3 arm attachment you need that I don't see on the $16 kit.

Or you can go here and get one for free to borrow, just look under universal pullers. Free is good with a tool you probably will not use again.

I don't have the time to 'get stuck' on this project. I need to get it done within a day and can't wait for replies on here.

You don't need a slide hammer as you can pound out the hub from the inside of the knuckle.

What you do need is someone with a bearing splitter to get that inner race off the hub.
