There are different types of protein.
I can't remember them all right now.
I do remember that there is one in meat that you can't get from veggies.
Some vegans suffer a deficiency problem because of this and are given protein supplements to correct/offset their lack of it.
It is available in fish and eggs, so you are not locked into red meat for the protein.

I had a guy at work the other day remark;
"Schultz, you have a waist!!"
I was standing on a tire, replacing the upper radiator hose on a Mack tractor, when he saw me and it seemed to catch him off guard.

Lunch meat and dogs? Are those nutritionally necessary too? :)

Aside from being financially restricted, I decided not to buy any meat. I have been meat free since 3 weeks ago. The truth is... we do not really need a lot of meat...
I suppose it comes down to this sort of analogy: would you put cheap or top quality oil in your car? Top quality oil has all the properties (or nutrition) to keep the engine healthy. Cheap oil will only work for so long.
I researched being vegetarian/vegan, I agree with them 100%. Except for one small fact.

I love meat.

Yeah, I said it, I love meat.

Aw shux, I didn't know you guys cared that much.
:type I think any time a thread has gone on for 3 pages the size I have them set to, its a sure sign that either a.) we care - or - b.) it has gone off the wall into no-mans land :lol

In this case, keep it up, we care ^o)

Oh, I never said to eliminate meat. You can keep sticking that meat in your mouth all you want. I mean... it is fun after all. Or tasty. Or both!

Because I can't always afford having meat all the time, I found it easier to just not buy them. I have gone by just fine without it.

BUT!

If you do have the means to buy meat, please do! But the average sedentary person only needs to eat meat once a week or so. If you're a daily mechanic always working, grunting, and sweating around the shop, then eat some more meat. It's all about how much we need and not what we want. Here in America, we kind of overdo it. :)

201# this am.

I am so close to my personal goal weight I can taste it.
It makes me giddy.
Or Giggly, (If you are Yiffzers girl)

I found out last night, I can drink alcohol.
In plain juice.
So I had a Tequila screwdriver,
2 chicken wings,
1 tortilla chip with salsa.
a small pile of jalapenos. (they came with the nachos, my wife doesn't like jalapenos)
If I imbibe slow, I am OK. I nursed my drink for 2 hours.
There may be hope for me and beef yet.
I have been able to do hot dogs for weeks. (that just sounds wrong)
Last week I bought Nathans all beef dogs.
I like Nathans, great flavor and no skin but with a solid crunch as you bite into it, no grease or oily taste.
I was a little fearful at first. But I HAD to have one. Those chicken/pork things are good, but I wanted a real beef dog.
So when Barb cooked them for the kids last Saturday, I ate one, alone in its plate, with mustard and kraut.
Mm,Mm good.
Had another one just a 1/2 hour ago.
Yeah, I'm a little queasy. Nowhere near the pain I felt after trying to eat a hamburger.
Hot dogs are processed differently from ground beef. But it was beef.
Beef!Beef!Beef!Beef!Beef!Beef!Beef!Beef!Beef!Beef!Beef!Beef!Beef!Beef!

So, maybe, in a couple more weeks, I will try the hamburger thing again.
Mm,Mm,Mm,
a big,
juicy,
burger.
I like mine with lettuce and tamaitas,
Heinz 57 and french fried pataitas,
big kosher pickle and a cold draft beer,
well good God almighty,
which way do I steer.
FOR MY,
cheezeburger in paradise.

Yes, I was waiting for this day for MONTHs!!! :cheers

Cant wait til I get to 200 lbs, I got 90 to go in that case. Before I try a jalapenos diet, going to try doing one type of exercise a day and all the reps for that exercice, so each day I do something different.

Second, trying a can of store brand ensure, you know, the little 8 ounce bottle of stuff thats 350 calories. I tried some the other day and a little bottle made me feel full for 6 hours. Ive tried snacking around the clock vs eating, its not helping. Need to cut down on eating in general if not at all for a few hours other than when I am asleep.

Can't do beer yet.
The carbonation swells in my tiny tummy and hurts like the dickens.
I tried that already.
