You got a welder? Hey, at least you are in VA. I guess worse to worse maybe I can play with yours? If metroschultz doesnt already have, I may have a shop I can get your car inspected. You just need all the basics to work.

Well,
Well,
Well,

I am alive and well and, thanks to the miracle of modern chemistry, living in a state of dopiness.
I had no idea how much this would hurt after the fact.

I asked the doctor to put my device as deep under the muscle as possible. I wanted it protected as much as I could get it.
His reply; " We have not put one under the muscle, it goes under the skin. over the muscle. !Crap! !Crap! !Crap!
Well, guess what, Mine is under the muscle and just over my rib cage. :thumb
He also lowered it in the chest so there is more breast meat over it.
Then I got an extra long set of leads to compensate for any stretching I may do.
But,
!DAMN!
This sh-t hurts.
My total recovery time will probably be 6 to 8 weeks instead of the usual 4.
He and I talked extensively about the unit and magnetic limitations and the possibility of a false firing, etc. Conclusion; I will still be able to weld.

Just not for a couple of weeks. I have to wait for my muscle to finish healing, and since this is the first he has done, We are not sure of the total time. The reason the surgeons don't like to go sub-muscle instead of sub-dermal is due the the blood vessels that have to be moved and accounted for and trying to cut with the grain instead of against it and some other stuff.
Did I mention that I really like this doctor?
Oops, GTG.

I believe my doctor took it as a personal challenge to get the unit below the muscle and deeper in the chest.
I have to wear a sling to keep my arm from pulling my incision open.
All the time for the first 2 days then only at night for 2 weeks. I am beginning to exercise it now.
When I wake up my whole left side is stiff like rigor mortis. Moving feels like I am the Tin Man from Oz and need my oil can.
I have a 6 inch gash in my left chest that runs parallel to the clavicle and about 2 inches below.
The unit itself is 2 mm thick and about 2/3 the size of an average playing card.
Made from Titanium and gold. Hell, now my left tit is worth more than my cars.
GTG again.

Back again.
I've been awake for 14 hours and my wife thinks, since I am home, that all we need to do is drive around to thrift stores and find button front shirts for me. I can't do pull overs yet. That has to wait till I can raise my arm over my head.

Any ways,
I'm gonna take a pain pill and go lie down now.

Be Back Soon.

Glad to hear you made it ok. I thought to myself what if I was the last forum member to talk to you before you went under. Then of course trailer Bills metro back to him and stop by billy bob motors to get it inspected for him.

The way your arm feels is how my whole body feels. Its like I am standing in 6 ft of mud.

Pm coming...

I can't tell how surprised I was to hear about your surgery and how much I've been pulling for you.

I just found this thread again. I am very glad to hear your on the mend. Just think. You now have a square booby. For me one of the scariest things about my brother having a defib, was watching him when it went off. While it did save his life, it was horrible to see this strong, proud dude flopping on the ground screaming about being electricuted. It scared me to death. We were out golfing. The family joke is, hit the ball, drag brother Dan to the next hole. LOL He got all worked up over nothing. You are really gonna have to keep your emotions and heart rate on an even keil. Remember. You have been my inspiration to take better care of my self. And I have been. Airborne brother. :thumb
