One of our family friends died from sudden cardiac death 5 years ago. His daughter came by to see me last night. We have been close for years, and she has spent so much time at our house, that she calls me her "other dad". She was in tears when she came by. Sobbing inconsolably. Between sobs I was able to get the reason from her, Tom, (her dad) was scheduled to receive one of these units 10 days after his death. The operation was scheduled, the unit was ready, the doctor was willing. The timing was shitty. If he had the unit before his heart stopped, he would probably still be with us today. Finding out I had one, brought back memories of Tom and also made her realize that I am not leaving just a quick anecdote about life and karma and fate and ??? |

Very glad to hear that the surgery was a success and that you are healing up. ...maybe a bunch of us should drive down to The Beach & all bring our welders: you can just sit there & give us lessons. ![]() ...again, very glad you are doing well. |

Wow, some story about Tom. Myself and my mother often kick ourselves for not being more active in my dads care. My dad came to me one morning before I woke up and said he was just in ill health. |

We all knew Tom had heart issues. Guys don't usually offer info on illness, so we had no idea what the extent was. Finding out from Nanci that he was scheduled to relieve one of these super advanced units just days after his SCD was a real eye opener for me. I've been fighting this implant for 2 months now. Glad I gave in. I've been regaining movement in my left arm. I can't get it over my head yet. But I can do the little circles and truncated big circles, an the lift and hold stretches. The P.O. is expecting me back on Wednesday. So I need to get a little more range of motion before tomorrow. Gonna go for a walk now and do some Rocky Balboa type exercises on the way. Then start with my little dumbbells and work my way to the bigger ones. The one thing I was not expecting is the pain radiating around my back. From my front left breast (pecs for you muscle bound type) to the left shoulder bone in my back.(trapezius muscle for you medical types) It must have something to do with the way the muscles are interconnected and the stretching of the pecs in front to make room for the unit. Any one with ideas for stretching exercises and such, feel free to post a link to YouTube or other informative sights for the education of us here mountain Williams. |

The implant sounds painful. No doubt the the doctor will want to know all the nitty-gritty details. Your determination to regain full health is impressive

Hey Paul! Glad you made it and are slowly getting better. Better yet, that you'll be able to weld once your muscles mend! ![]() This is he best time to get any unemployed kids and their spouses to help you around the house. Guilt is a great motivator! ie. Sweetie, can you get Daddy a glass of water? Oh, and there's some things I need to move out of the driveway.... Can you and your boyfriend start up that red metro a little so the battery doesn't die? Hey! Your boyfriend seems really smart. I betcha he can learn to weld! I'd be happy to show him! Can he drive that red metro down the street to get it inspected? It'll only take a few minutes. It would make your dad real happy and the raging pain in my chest won't hurt so much..... What they said it needs a tuneup? Oh, I got everything to do that right here. Did he ever want to learn how to get his car to pass emissions? It's easy! But Oh, the pain! If only my son-inlaw could just help me seal up an exhaust leak instead of sitting in front of the TV watching me in pain............ Edited by BillHoo, Mar 14 2012, 04:11 PM.

Wow..... hope that turns out ok. I better head to harbor frieght and get a free pair of gloves instead of a flash light for next, next Saturday. Thats my love/hate relationship with cut off wheels. They work so well and in many tight places, but one wrong move they can wack everytihng in sight or vanish in a cloud of dust.
