I knew you guys behind the counter were playing Facebook instead of fixing my whopper. 6thArmy - Yeah they're tough, but the reward in the end is worth it. My wife had hers done in December last year and has lost 135# so far. I am still on liquids and have just started incorporating soft solid food into my menu. Lots of fish and eggs for the next few weeks. I am up to 12 blocks in the morning and evening now. Not today though, hurricane crap, dontcha know. 2 days back I walked to a friends house (.8 mile away) and the last few hundred feet beat me to death. Then he and I BSed for a while and he gave me a ride home. My wife was livid, she was at work so I didn't tell her where I went and I wasn't here when she got home. I told her I had my phone, all she had to do was call. Oh well. TTFN |

Hello Hello Hello 254# this am. Had 4oz of shrimp in cocktail sauce today. Made my stomach hurt a little. Still drinking protein and got a little impatient for some thing solid. Walked 1 mile yesterday morning and 2 miles last night. I use to be a runner, I would run 10 to 20 miles a day. I have decided I will run the Rock and Roll 1/2 Marathon here in Virginia Beach next year. I have 11 1/2 months to get ready. I'm going to need new shoes soon. My current pair of walking shoes was old last year. Now they're really old. No puddles for me. See you in the funny pages. |

Very glad you are doing better. I really wish you the best and hope to shake your hand one day. Just a thought but bicycling might be a little easier on the legs. I used to like to run but found that cycling is better on my feet and knees. But walking is great also. My brother used to race walk. At one time he held the record for race walking for his age group in Alabama. Take care and hang in there. Claude G.

I had 2 oz of hamburger last night. No issues. The kids cooked on the grill and the aroma was overwhelming. So I took 1 hamburger patty and split it with the dogs. Then went for another walk. I bought some cocktail sauce today, maybe the sauce will lubricate the shrimp so they slide through easier,. I may end up bicycling instead of running. I've spent the last 25 years beating the he!! out of my knees with the extra weight. I want to run. I may not be able to. We'll see what the future brings and what my decrepit oldness allows. I ran the Marine Marathon in Washington DC in 1983. I came in @ just over 4 1/2 hours. I don't remember the specifics. It was Grueling, Exhausting, Painful, and the most rewarding thing I ever did. ![]() I want to do it again. I used to run across the Woodrow Wilson bridge form Arlington to Washington every day. One morning There was a camera crew shooting a commercial. They got all mad cause I messed up the scene. I had to sign a release form and they gave me as much of the "Voit" products as I could carry. I ended up heading strait home after that little encounter. Is AMF Voit even in business anymore? |

Your doctor will tell you if and when it would be productive to run again. Bicycling and swimming are good low/no impact sports. If your knees are bothering you, I've heard good things from people who have switched to the recumbent bicycles...that they really strengthen the knees. I've never tried one, but would like to do it someday. Keep up your awesome journey to getting healthy....and thanks for updating us on your progress. |

Be sure to buy a good bike if you go that route, a crappy bike is a pain in the ass, in more than one way.

Yes, Jitttney, metroschultz you want to try a recumbent bicycle. I'm so sorry I did not switch decades ago. Even at my age of 55 I can cruse at over 20-22 mph on my long wheel base recumbent. It has a fairing and "body stocking" so it is tear drop shaped. My stocking is blue. W/O the aerodynamics, steel frame... ![]() The company; easyracers.com/ And before you get sticker shock the complete bike w/steel frame runs $2,500 plus tax. Get a used one or look at other manufacturers bikes for maybe 1/2 price. The 2"foam padded seat is very comfortable. PM me if anyone has any questions. |

251# today Had some chicken salad again. That may be my staple for a while Thanks for the well wishes. Its amazing how far I can walk now without getting winded. I think the first weeks out were tough because of the stitches and my innards rearranging them selves. 50 more pounds and I'm going to see if my knees will hold up to some light jogging around the block. Watch me go!!! |
