If I get down to 190# I'm going to run at full tilt around the block. I might collapse on the home stretch and be carried the last 20 feet, but it would be worth it. 250# this am. 1 mile walk. now waiting on a butthead to bring the right parts for his truck. |

Not really a lot of extra stuff. Just modified versions of the same stuff. I take a chewable vitamin. Think Flinstones only 8 times the size. A "B" complex vitamin A chewable calcium supplement that tastes like a Chocolate Truffle. (Barb likes the one that tastes like Lemon Cheesecake) I crush my other medications and mix them in OJ. And I drink most of my meals right now. My stomach will only hold about one ounce of anything. Liquids pass fastest and it's easy to find protein drinks in a multitude of flavors. I am trying new solid food every day. So far I know I can tolerate; Chicken salad Shrimp Any Fish Guacamole The hamburger didn't sit well, so I won't try that again for a month or so. Some people never tolerate beef again. Some can do ground beef. The burger thing makes me mad, cause I love beef, and Barb has been able to eat beef in any form since about 5 weeks out of surgery. If I eat something that I can't digest yet, it causes great discomfort and pain. We have all over eaten to the point of pain at least once in our lives, So, Think like this, You ate the entire 10 quart pot of spaghetti your mom made, AND You can not vomit. With the reduction in my stomach (not really a stomach any more, but this is the easiest way to put it) I do not have the muscles to regurgitate. If I eat too much, or too fast, It hurts. A Lot. I have to bear through it till the food has been passed through and digested. |

I love milk shakes. Too much sugar though. My new innards won't tolerate refined sugar in any form. I drink protein drinks. Kinda like a shake but grainier. 248# this am. Off to church then hopefully the rain will stop so I can go for my walk. |

One day at a time, Metroschultz. Glad to see that you're doing well. Keep doing what you are doing and you will meet you're goal. If I remember correctly, you started at #350 lbs plus, so you have already lost a bit over #100 lbs. from where you started. As you have noted recently, a few pounds here, then another few there. It all adds up, ( or should I say minus )? Any way, glad to see that you are making progress. Keep us posted as we here are all wishing the best!

I went to the doctor today, He gave me the go ahead to return to work. Now I have to send the paper work to HQ so they can see I'm not disabled. I am probably the only person I know who wants to go back to work. Staying home all day is driving me nucking futs. |

247# today just got back from my walk. I was putting on my pants yesterday and the wife was laughing. I ask, "Whats so funny?" She says, "You look like a little kid putting on his big brothers hand me downs." Well, I must be losing something. I bought one of those belts that is made of braided leather. Now I don't have to punch extra hole is my old belt. 5 years ago I had a 56' waist, went to 50' by last year. Barb measured me at 47 yesterday so she can go get me some new pants. TTFN |

Yes Sir Mr. Bogs, It is nice to lose inches from my waist. Sux to have to buy pants though. Salvation Army. here I come. 245# this am. Just got back from my 1.5 mile walk. Barb went with me and we passed the grocery store, so we grabbed a few things and headed home. I'm back at work now, so life feels a little more normal. It makes it easier to deal with the "No Solid Food" thing. Packing lunch is easy. 2 boxes of protein drink and 3 bottles of water. FYI Boxed drinks won't explode in the freezer. I stuck 1 of mine there last night to make it a little colder (sitting on my toolbox, they warm up a bit), and forgot about it. As I was cleaning up at the end of the night, I remembered. It swelled up real good, but didn't bust. TTFN |

!!----Sooooooo---!!! I went out last night, after work with some friends. Local drinking establishment, Loud music, Half dressed women, Pool tables, You know the place. I am resigned to drinking decaf coffee with imitation sugar and real cream. Every one makes some comment on my weight loss. (I haven't seen most of these people in 5 weeks) My supervisor, (Yes from the P.O.) (we are able to separate work and personal lives) orders chicken wings and fries. (really!?, they serve that in a bar?) Then proceeds to throw fries covered in ketchup at me. !!??WTF!!?? Actually pretty funny at the time, just caught me off guard. My daughter comes in and orders a plate of fries. Now she's throwing fries at me?!?!?!? O.K. so it's a conspiracy.! I bet these guys were on the grassy knoll. I (insert bad idea music here) Decide to take a drink from my daughters beer. One little sip can't hurt, Right? (My stomach will still only hold about 1/2 ounce) Oh so good, The flavor, The slight hint of salt, the bubblies in the back of my throat, the slight bitterness, Oh the pain, Holy crap what did you do you F-ck-ng moron, !!ARGH!! as the carbonation expands in my new stomach, it stretches and causes extreme anguish. Bad Idea! Bad Idea! Bad Idea! Bad Idea! Bad Idea! Bad Idea! I can't regurgitate, and it is extremely hard to burp, But I try. it takes about 30 minutes before I am near normal again. Well as normal as I get anyway. O.K., Note to self, !NO MORE BEER! and I really like beer. Now I'm ![]() |

241# this am. That's 44 pounds since August 11. Went from a 48/50 waist. (depends on the maker of the pants) --------TO--------- 44 waist. (thank God for Salvation Army and Goodwill) I started eating bits of "real" food a few days ago. 1 or 2 ounces at a time. At first it hurt like He!!. Now it is just uncomfortable. I had an egg for lunch on Friday. 1 egg. hard boiled. with salt. yum a little here, a little there. Yesterday I had a few ounces of pork chop. OMG!! I don't remember a piece of meat tasting so good. I know it is a function of absence makes the heart grow fonder, but, Damn, I liked that. Today I had some liver, (I like liver, you don't have too ), I ate a little more than I should have. (O.K. I ate a lot more than I should have, did I mention that I like liver?)That was @ 6:00pm, now it is near 10:00pm and I still feel it in my gut. We (the fam and I) went to Neptune fest today. Food tents, and artsy fartsy tents, and the "Great North American Sand Sculpture Competition" . We walked from 1st street to 28th street on the boardwalk, then back.(app. 3.75 miles). My wife and I had no issues. My 31 year old daughter and my 21 year old daughter were tired about halfway through and were really pissed when I said we were walking back to the car. (We used to get a mile or so from the car and taxi back) We didn't buy any of the delicious food they offered. That pissed 'em off too. I can walk buy the vendors, (so can my wife) Smell the delicious aromas, Feel my mouth water, and not get hunger pangs. So, no need to spend the money. Hey, they got jobs, they could spend their own money. This is getting more fun by the day. I did some pull ups on the frame of a truck in the shop the other day. We have really tall lifts. I haven't done a pull up in 24 years! I have been doing push ups in the morning , fresh out of bed. My energy is amazing. My wife is less than half what she used to be. Down to 135 from 280. That's a whole extra person! WooHoo! More to come, Stay tuned. |
